Bridled Fury

I wish I knew the proper words to adequately describe this insatiable urge to fall apart. You try shamelessly to hold it all together, forming a plausible front that's seemingly keeping the vultures at bay, yet somehow... somehow a simple question can make the dam burst. Annoying as they are at times, uncontrollable emotional responses are, in essence, what makes us human. We live our lives in a glass bubble; knowing that at any moment the bubble could shatter and our mental stability crashes into cardiac arrest.

...and then comes the rain. A tiny drop of moisture collides into shards of the broken heart you've tried so valiantly to deny. In a moment, the drops fall faster & faster till a trail of fresh dignity washes away the memories of failure's past. A shot of relief with a slice of pain reminds you while a silver lining glimmers; the ominous cloud of destruction upon which it sits is glaring you in the face. How many rain clouds does it take to wash away the guilt that haunts the waking hours?

Very good article. We all know how to deal with success. But some folks have problems dealing with failure.
