Brief Parent Teacher Conference

I would begin getting ready for a brief parent teacher conference by preparing some quick information about the benefit of a good education. I would also gather a small sample incorporating the type of work that is normally done by the student. I would give the parents some tips and strategies to use in helping the student at hope that are quick and easy. I would also create a quick questioner for the parents about behavioral and educational issues at home. The parents could fill this out before they leave or fill it out later and return it with the student within a reasonable amount of time.

I would also show a quick sample of some of the best work inform the parents that I know that the student is smart and capable of getting better grades than C's. I would also remind the parents that if the student continues at the rate and keeps insisting on not doing the work, he or she might lower the C average and even fail which might lead to retention. As for the behaviors, I would inform the parents that they can't allow such behaviors to happen at home and that it's important to work together on the behavioral issues because time is being taken out of class time and the other students are being deprived of their right to learn.
