Bright, Beautiful Bags: A Summer 2010 Must-Have!

K. F. Lynn
This summer, bright, bold colors are in. With our moods boosting to match the weather, I like to add a little fun to my fashion. One of my fashion must-haves for this spring and summer has been my bright yellow hobo slouch purse that I bought at Nordstrom. However, the great thing is that bags like this can be found anywhere - no designer labels necessary! I have seen bright, fun bags at Kohl's, any department store (Macy's, JC Penny), Steve Madden, Aldo, and if you really want something special, take a look around Etsy.com for a hand-crafted and highly impressive bag.

Purses and handbags are a definite must-have accessory for any woman, but this season I decided to kick it into a higher gear. The bright yellow is an immediate mood-booster and feels perfectly at home hanging off my shoulder in the warm weather. It is one of my most frequently complimented accessories, which always makes a girl feel great! I throw it on with anything from an all-black sleek outfit, a dress, or even simple jeans and a t-shirt, and it looks great with really any clothing choice.

There is a huge variety of bag styles and sizes out there, and everyone has a preference, so be sure to try a few on to get a feel for how it will hit your body and to take account just what you will be putting in the bag. I opt for the hobo style because hobo bags fit my dressing and personality style - laid back, but organized. This bag, for me, is perfect for spring and summer because it is spacious and easy to toss things into on the go.

One thing you should bear in mind when picking out a brightly colored handbag is to try to stick to solid, true primary colors - red, blue, or yellow. These three colors can be pulled off with quite literally almost any outfit. A quick art class crash-course!: Greens, purples, and oranges are a lot harder to pull off because they are complex colors mixed from primaries. Meaning that matching them to an outfit or other accessories can be much harder. However, if you cannot resist secondary and tertiary colors for your bag, here is a tip: go for a print that incorporates the colors rather than a solid color. This gives you a little more matching-freedom while still looking fun, flirty and bright for the summer!
