Bright and Green

Intentions and Balance

bw Frampton
When days were nothing but bright
and times, green with immature misunderstandings,
I smiled more than any boy you knew.
Never aware, not one iota of thought, that
a mild persona and generous spirit
will gather nothing but cobwebs and foul dust.
Years came and years went by -
smiles became synthetic and
the well of heart went dry
while shattered glass replaced that twinkle in my eye -
the birth of bad intentions through ev'ry betrayal and each lie.
Perhaps light needs darkness to show the world of its brilliance.
Mayhap darkness depends on illumination.
A positive...
...a negative...
There is a balance out there, somewhere.
Bad intentions, this night, shall mature
and evil, this night, shall die.
Green shall be my days again.
