Nestled in the center of Brighton, this Class V smoke-free library serves more than 39,000 patrons in the City of Brighton, as well as Genoa, Marion and Green Oak Townships. The library carries such a great collection; it is popular enough that even nearby Howell residents who have their own Howell Carnegie Library frequent the Brighton District Library.

The library opened its doors in May of 1996 well-equipped to meet the needs of its patrons. With state of the art computer facilities, a reading room, and a children's activity area that has a special "cuddle corner", the library meets the needs of all ages. Brighton District Library also caters to special needs and disabled patrons with equipment for the vision and hearing impaired and a nice collection of audio books (including both cassette and CD-ROM version). The library has a wide variety of multi-media to satisfy just about any need. Whether you want to check out a book, video, DVD or even surf the internet on the library's state-of-the-art computers, Brighton District Library has something for just about everyone.

If you head out to the library there's a lot to do nearby. With the post office just around the corner, a skate park, and a nature preserve, and a huge selection of fast food restaurants as well as upscale cuisine, you may just want to make a day of it. Just minutes away is the Mill Pond Imagination Station play center, so after the kids have been quite and calm at the library you can pop over to let them expend their energy with a walk around the pond, or play on Brighton District Library.

The library boasts several continuing education opportunities for all age groups. With ongoing daily and weekly activities for children, teens and adults the whole family can truly find the joy of reading at Brighton District Library. Another feature of the library is its unique arts program where local and visiting artists display their work throughout the library in a show that typically changes once every month.

If you can't get out to the library, homebound individuals can receive free delivery right to their door from Brighton District Library. You do need to be a resident of the library district (City of Brighton, Genoa, or Green Oak Township). However you can be any age as the delivery service is for anyone who is homebound and not just seniors.

To learn more about Brighton District Library, drive on over, visit them on the web or give them a telephone call. The library has year round every day hours, with the exception of being closed on Sundays in July. It's always good to call ahead.
