Brilliant Barista

Ode to My Caffeine Queen

Kelly O'Neil

Each morning I am groggy
Sleep clouds my grumpy eyes
And though the weather's soggy
I know that I must rise

So out the door I venture
To the local coffee shop
For four dollars to be sure
On coffee I will drop

And there's her smile that's not fake
Behind the coffee cart
Though hours she has been awake
My order she will start

Oh lovely caffeine queen
Thanks for your great provision
And not acting at all mean
Despite my indecision

You hand me my quadruple shot
And send me on my way
And though the price will rise a lot
I'll always gladly pay
