Of course the first and foremost way to use baking soda is in cooking. From pies to cookies you can't hardly cook without it.
Cleaning your stove is another great use for baking soda. Baking soda is non abrasive so it won't scratch up your stovetop. It works wonders to take off those hard stuck on foods and without too much elbow grease.
It is a good idea to keep an opened box of baking soda in your refrigerator to absorb smells. It keeps your fridge smelling clean and fresh.
You can also use baking soda as a toothpaste. In fact, you will find that some toothpaste already has baking soda in it. To make toothpaste with baking soda you mix ½ teaspoon of baking soda with peroxide until it forms a paste. This works great to brighten and whiten your teeth. The taste leaves something to be desired, but you will have sparkling clean teeth.
For smooth silky skin sprinkle a little baking soda in your bath water.
Baking soda is a great way to ease sunburns. It also works great to relieve diaper rash on babies. Just sprinkle a little baking soda in the baby's bath water to ease a rash.
Not only does baking soda make a great toothpaste it can work as a mouthwash. Use about ½ teaspoon mixed with water and gargle. Again, not too tasty, but it will clean and freshen your mouth.
I mentioned earlier that baking soda is a great cleaner for your stove. It also works well on bathtubs, showers, commodes, sinks and countertops. Being as it is non abrasive it is good on so many surfaces without risk of scratching.
When you are pressed for time and just don't have time to wash your hair you can sprinkle some baking soda in your hair and brush it through then blow dry. The baking soda will absorb any oil and freshen up your hair.
When you receive fresh flowers, whether it be for your birthday, anniversary or any special occasion, to keep those flowers lasting longer put 1 teaspoon of baking soda in the water. I really like this tip because I want my pretty flowers to last as long as possible.
To absorb odors in your shoes sprinkle baking soda in them.
Just as the baking soda cleans the grease and stuck food from your stove it also works great on your pots and pans. Sprinkle some baking soda and put in some water and let soak. The grease and food will come right off.
Baking soda is great for a cat litter box. Sprinkle some baking soda in with the litter and it will absorb the odors. You can buy cat litter with baking soda already in it but it may be somewhat cheaper to buy the baking soda and put it in with the litter.
As you can tell, for a mere 50 to 75 cents for a box of baking soda is one product you do not want to be without! It can save you a lot of money on other products that baking soda can do the same thing.
