The easiest art in your home to change out would be the photographs. Oftentimes we overlook the photos anyway since we become so accustomed to them. When they are changed out, we notice the photos again and can even appreciate the lovely frames that they are housed in. Try to find some pictures that were taken during the spring or summer and slip these into the frames. Not only will they bring back fond memories, they will help everyone who looks at them think about spring.
If you are able, try switching out any paintings or prints that may be hanging on your walls. You can find some that have a little more color if yours are darker in palette. This will help to lighten up the room as well. You can keep the same frames or use different ones for a new, fresh look. Remember to open the curtains, as the view out of the window is some of the best art.
Switch plates hanging in plate holders in the kitchen or dining room. Oftentimes we put plates in plate holders on the wall and then forget about them. If you don't have any springtime or lighter plates, get some cheap china plates and paints, then show off your inner Picasso! Or let your kids do it and you'll have a keepsake that you'll treasure for years to come. They can then be displayed year after year.
Should you not have any colorful prints and pictures to switch out, try framing fabric. Not only is it inexpensive, it gives the room an automatic focal point and can take on a wallpaper like role if you frame a good bit of it. You could also try creating a springtime scene out of scraps of fabric and frame it like an expensive quilt. Frame several coordinating pieces of fabric for a more eclectic look or frame the same pattern for a cohesive vibe.
Tack up some pictures that your kids have drawn about spring. Or slip them into frames and rotate them year-round. Not only will you always have a reminder of your precious children, you'll have a seasonal rotation of pictures. If you don't have any pictures that seem spring like, take your kids outside or to the park, and give them some watercolors or colored pencils and tell them to draw what they see.
However you choose to switch around your wall art, doing it will help create a fresh atmosphere in your home. It will help you anticipate and celebrate the coming of warmer weather, green plants, and ultimately summer.
