Bristol Palin, Classy Loser? Jennifer Grey, Drama Wins?

Dancing with the Stars Reveals a Lot

Sherry Tomfeld
Can we all say Bristol Palin with a pleasant face and tone now? Bristol came in 3rd in Dancing with the Stars. After much controversy over how she got voted back so many times, Bristol has been under unfair pressure during this competition. Did she quit? Did she cry in front of the cameras about her treatment? No. She just kept coming back to dance. And, Bristol Palin improved significantly as the competition continued.

People might think that Dancing WITH the Stars actually meant non professional dancers, like Jennifer Grey, would automatically be ineligible. Some might think that Jennifer Grey was being a drama queen over injuries said to have occurred during the competition. (IF Bristol Palin would have been injured, proof of injury and doctor(s) would have been called to the View for question and answer sessions.) And last but not least, some might say that Jennifer Grey didn't show a lot of adult behavior during this whole process.

Everyone wants to win. But losing can sometimes be the best prize. Bristol Palin was a good loser, leaving Dancing with the Stars as a gracious lady. I hope she remembers the pride she felt when she reached so far out of her comfort zone and did so well. I hope that she doesn't turn into another media blitzed wild child.

I hope Bristol Palin listens to the people who love her. I pray that she follows God's plan for her. Bristol Palin did well from audience voting because she reminded us of the kid next door or the daughter sitting on the couch next to us. She still has an air of innocence about her. Were votes for her generated from the media's criticism of her? Americans don't like kids getting beat up in the news, on the View and in comedian's rants.

Congratulations to the winner Jennifer Grey. Congratulations to Kyle, a good sport and fine dancer. But don't forget to congratulate the kid in the bunch. The 20 year old that drove her truck five days to learn how to dance. Dance she did. Congratulations Bristol Palin. Thanks for being such a good sport. Thank you for letting our kids know that they can achieve volumes more than they dream they can. Thank you Bristol Palin, for being a classy loser!

I was so sick of Jennifer Grey's whining. Bristol takes personal attacks like most of us can't even imagine. She tried - she was not a dancer and she was not a "star", she still handled herself as well, if not better, than the other contestants. I just wish she or Kyle had won. Grey was a ringer who had been previously trained in ballet and dance.

I think the article is right on. Bristol is a gracious loser. She worked hard and kept coming back because she had fans who enjoyed seeing her dance every week. She was the underdog and came to the front. I think Bristol is a good example to young people. She like many young girls fell in love as a teen and let a boy talk her into letting him have his way with her.

I think the story of each contestant is just right-on. The right person won because she is a beautiful talented dancer. The other two were winners because both advanced on their own merits and God given talents to the finals. Both handled the entire journey with class! When I was a kid, my coaches and other adults aways taught us young'ns that "It's not if you win or if you lose, it's how you play the game"! I'm of the opinion that we don't hear that much anymore in life but it is an old and good message and a valuable lesson to receive. Happy Thanksgiving and God’s blessings to you. ℳ.ℋ.
