Bristol Palin: Dancing with the Stars Appearance Could Earn Single Teen Mother Substantial Money

Carol Whyte
Bristol Palin, 19, is the latest "star" to be rumored as part of the Season 11 cast of Dancing With The Stars. The single mother, if she can dance (and/or have a huge fan base to vote her through each week) could potentially make a nice salary on ABC's mega-hit show.

Toss in there her speaking engagements at around $14,000 a gig, well, the teen mother may be sitting pretty in the financial department, something her ex, Levi Johnston, seems hell bent upon doing at practically any cost (for example, running for the Mayor of Wasilla Alaska on a reality show).

Palin has already made her acting debut on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" in a cameo appearance as herself. But with her role on DWTS Palin could make some serious money.

There are varying reports on the web stating how much stars make on DWTS, anywhere from $245,000 to $500,000. Of course it depends on several factors but more than likely, the actual amount a star make is probably kept close under wraps.

For example, a report on the DWTS website (click here) states that Howard Stern's wife, Beth Ostrosky was offered a base salary of $125,000 just for appearing on the show. After that, had Ostrosky accepted the offer, she would have made $20,000 per week for each week she stayed on the show. Stern also stated that a $50,000 bonus was offered if DWTS extended to a ninth week recap show (that was during Season 3 when fewer stars and episodes were shown).

However, if you are Kate Gosselin you may make a little bit more than that. A report by PopEaters states that the single mom of eight earned nearly half a million dollars even though she didn't get through week five.

While there doesn't appear to be concrete evidence of what a star makes by appearing on Dancing With The Stars, reports that Bristol are making $14,000 for each speaking engagement regarding teens and pregnancy are fairly consistent.

Palin is due to speak in Louisville, Kentucky on September 8 on behalf of LIfehouse which is an organization helping single mothers with raising their children.

These scantily clad partner romance shows are the very stuff we liberals are trashed daily for being a part of. Conservatives go start up a club 700 dance show, you and your politics and values are not welcome here.

Why don't they just change the name to what it should be: Dancing with people who aren't stars cause we can't get real stars to perform on the show" And, Bristol Palin? I love how she goes around talking to kids about how hard it is to be a teenage mother. Don't worry kids, get knocked up and you can live a hard life too. You'll have to deal with parents who have money, getting paid to fake an engagement in a magazine and the hardest of all: getting paid to dance on a show with other people who aren't stars either. I'd have more respect for her if she actually spoke the truth and said "Being a teenage mom isn't easy, but I wouldn't know because I just got paid a *hit load of money to pretend like I'm taking back my baby daddy."
It's not about her being away from her son; there's nothing wrong with that. I just wish she wouldn't go around whining about her "fake" hard life.

This will be the first season I refuse to watch DWTS if they bring her on! Gross!

Is this dancing with the stars or dancing with the "media?"
I am sure she is a fine woman but "star?" I don't think so.

NO!!! I am a fan of DWTS...but I PROMISE you I will NOT watch it if Bristol Palin is considered a "star" and appears on this show. What message are we sending our younger daughters?

  • kris8/27/2010

I think it sucks that you dare, have Bristol Palin, on dancing with the stars. I and many friends will not watch this season.

Can we now reassign the "Johnny Hollywood" name that Mrs. Palin gave Levi to Bristol?

Turning her into a star would be better described as bringing a black hole to television.... No feelings about this here!

I think it's sad that they will put Bristol Palin on DWTS. They are rewarding her for being a teen mom - other teens see this - and think it's glamorize. SAD... THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME I WILL NOT WATCH DWTS... what type of message is this sending...
