British Government Documents Called Scientology 'Evil', Compared it to a Cult

NoPNA
The BBC is reporting that there are recently released documents, created by the British Government, of a long investigation into the history, teachings, and practices of the Church of Scientology. Many of these documents said Scientology was "evil" and compared it to a cult.

These documents date back to the 1960s and continue to today. At one time, there was a ban on membership into the Church of Scientology by any citizens of the United Kingdom. There was also a ban on any member of the Church of Scientology from becoming citizens. This ban was lifted in the early 1980s.

These documents state that members of the British Government made investigations, and infiltrations into the Church of Scientology for a very long time. There were many questionable practices of the Church of Scientology.

These documents accused the Scientology leaders as being brain-washers that would do anything to recruit new members. These new members were then forced to sign all of their possessions over to the Church. If they did not, they would be the target of psychological torture by the leaders, and by the rest of the community.

These documents made the assumption that the Church of Scientology was led by people that did not truly believe what they were preaching. The assumption was made that the leaders of the movement were only there to make money and to negatively influence people into following them.

The British Government lifted the ban against membership into the Church, but the investigations still went on. Those who were conducting these investigations and infiltrations were trying to prove that the Church of Scientology was an evil society that was bent on destroying the better aspects of British life.

The reports gave the claims that the Church of Scientology was not interested in people's personalities. These claims stated that the Church leaders had a goal of breaking down the personalities of the membership to make the followers into more drone-like people.

There were investigations into circumstances that happened to certain critics of the Church of Scientology. These reports made claims that the leaders of the Church had instructed followers of the Church to do evil things to those who opposed the Church. These assumptions were not verified by evidence.

Many British citizens are upset about the amount of money that was spent during these investigations. These citizens are pointing out other areas where the money could have gone to better use. There has not been an official statement made by the Church.

Great reporting! I also think celebrities who join Scientology are simply looking for attention. What ever happened to normal religions?

I absolutely agree that it is a cult like "religon". Well, according to Scientology I am made up of a bunch of a little alien beings so what do I know? Great article.

I can't really blame them for that one, though Bhumika. I believe that a guy died on a cross and then came back three days later. This same guy also walked on water, changed water into wine, and healed the sick. Worse yet, I believe that he did all this without financial gain! Maybe I am crazy!

"Xenu (also Xemu), pronounced ['zi.nu:], was the dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions[1] of aliens to Earth in DC-8-like spacecraft, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living, and continue to wreak chaos and havoc today."Source Wikipedia..now if this is what scientology believes in i am honestly saying that something is seriously wrong somewhere!! hydrogen boms 75 mil years ago?? wtf

I think the specific people and actions placed in the Church of Scientology seem horrendous. However, the thought of Scientology as a general idea seems fine to me.

Well it is a cult, a creepy one at that.
