Britney Checks into Rehab-and Checks Right Back Out

Pop star Britney Spears is on her way back home to Los Angeles after some family and friends reportedly met with her in Florida this past week and tried to stage an intervention regarding her reported alcohol overuse.

US Weekly reported earlier in the week that Spears and her two sons, Jaden James and Sean Preston, had checked into the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami for "some R & R" after Spears spent the previous week in New York for Fashion Week.

And according to the timeline, the intervention may have taken place at the Four Seasons in part to Spears' excessive use of alcohol. It is not known whether drugs were also part.

According to People magazine, Spears checked into the Crossroads Centre, a drug-and-alcohol treatment facility founded by rock star Eric Clapton and located on the Caribbean island nation of Antigua.

Though nobody has information as to the exact amount of time Spears spent at the rehab facility in Antigua, it has been widely speculated that she spent less than a day.

Earlier reports said that Spears was spending time with her two children in Miami and had been shopping in the South Beach district with her entourage.

It is not known if Spears intends to return to a rehab center at this time. She is scheduled to arrive back in California sometime later this evening.

She has been a fixture on the nightclub scene since her divorce from Kevin Federline, even being depicted during the recently completed Fashion Week in New York in several photos vomiting after leaving one club and reportedly drinking alcohol.

Spears even recently admitted she may be teetering somewhat, when she told her fans on her Web site, "If I were you I'd be unhappy too if I had to read what I've been reading every day. But trust me, I get it. I know I've been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move."
