Britney Spears as a Role Model

Britney Spears: Love Her or Hate Her?

Lisette Suarez
I personally love Britney Spears. If you're like most people especially the ones close to me, will say "Are you crazy? How can you love her? Do you know what she did?" Which I have replied, Yes I know what she did. Who didn't know what she's done, she has been on the spotlight since she started dating Federline and having children.

But here's is my reason for loving her. Britney is a young girl who has been on television since she starred in the Mickey Mouse Club with her soon to be boyfriend Justin Timberlake, and future singers like Christina Aguilera, J.C. Chazez and Jessica Simpson. She was only sixteen when she started her singing career that eventually made her a star. I even recall an interview she had where she was asked who she admired the most and she said Madonna.

She started dating Justin Timberlake very young and probably thought she was in heaven like any other teenager in love with their first "real" boyfriend, but with a lot of money. And then they broke up and she was devastated and turned to the one person who probably told her to forget Justin. Yeah he probably wasn't that great a person but he gave her two beautiful children whom are with him now until she gets better.

My point is that she has made mistakes and yes they were crazy mistakes that I would never do, but nonetheless mistakes and it doesn't mean that because she has money, she needs to be perfect. Perfection is impossible. Her parents should have tried harder in getting her help the minute she started to do anything out of the ordinary regardless of her age, instead she was ridiculed and talked about by the media. No one knows how she was feeling when the kids were awarded to Federline. No one knows how she was feeling before the judge order it . All they saw was a person who seemed erratic and couldn't be around children or people. Having something taken away from you especially children, is the hardest thing that you can go through, and unless you've been through it you can't really know. She could have been on the verge of depression or already having it without knowing it.

Yes she could have been a little more cautious with what she did, especially because she is a role model to so many young girls. But she wasn't and not all of us are, sometimes we say and do things that we think won't impact anything and yet it does in the long run. That is why we have to be careful of how what we do or say in front of our children or and try to guide them in the right direction at all the time regardless of their age, for as long as we are around. It doesn't mean that we control their lives just help them to find the right path even if they make mistakes along the way. And if they make too many mistakes that really affect their lives or the lives of the little ones in their life, then we need to step in and help them with it. Life is a struggle and a battle and if the poor people think they have the short end of the stick, just look at TV, newspaper or internet at all the stories of celebrities and the rich and think to yourself, Is your stick really shorter than theirs?

I love everything in print and showing my three children the joys as well. I believe that writing should be done whether you wish to gain from it or not as a way to express yourself.  View profile

    Lady Samantha,

You are correct in saying that her role model days are over, my emphasizes wasn't on that, but on the fact that the media picks on her way too much and they should just leave her alone.
