Britney Spears: Bombshell to Bombing Out

Let's face it, if the VMA's showed us anything, they showed us that Britney Spears has guts. How? If you saw her performance, you'd understand what I mean. However, if you didn't see it, then you really missed something that's going to be abuzz for quite some time. However, I firmly believe Britney can make an incredible comeback, but, she really should take some constructive criticism. While she may never read these thoughts and many people may not entirely agree, these are just my thoughts on what many consider a fresh and hot topic.

Style

Not that Britney is in poor shape, but, she didn't exactly look toned up for the outfit she decided to wear for the performance. While we all know that she's been through her own form of hell lately, that's understandable. Hey, people get stressed out, go through stuff and their bodies aren't the first thing on the mind in some instances. That doesn't mean you can dress that way and expect a warm reception. Personally, I'm impressed she wore that and looked as good as she does for having two children. It's quite a compliment when someone can be a mother (regardless of what KIND of mother she is) and be in decent shape.

I'll just say that I know from experience that being on stage is hard work. The lights, costumes and moving around can make it seem horribly hot up there, which is probably one of the main reasons (maybe it's wishful thinking!) why she was in such an outfit. Now, for me, it was no big deal but if you pay attention to the news, you'll hear about her being "fat" (I'm sorry, she may be a little loose in the tummy but she hardly qualifies as fat!) which is wrong of people to pass judgement. We're all different, remember that. However, Britney, you can dress up a little more and still have that sexy, seductive look you had just a few years ago. It's just a matter of finding the right attire that makes you feel the way you want to be seen.

Roots

Remember when Britney Spears first came around? She was this pretty, young mouseketeer who took pride in her southern roots. When she first made it out as a pop star we saw this too. However, something changed. What, exactly, I don't think anyone can say but her. Whatever it is, I think part of it is the downfall to why she's having trouble making a comeback. What you see now is a sad remnant of what she was like when she was younger. Hey, wait a moment, she's still young. Her sons should make her even more proud to be who she is, but, it's hard telling if she hid the pride or genuinely lost it. Whatever the case, Britney, you seriously should get it back! We loved it in you!

Performing

Initially, I had a fleeting moment that her bomb out performance was due to not performing for quite some time, but, I discovered she had done at least one show before the VMA's. I know we've all seen the 'money shot' pictures from Britney partying with Paris Hilton and other girls, so, there's always the chance that she's still at that lifestyle and she gave up rehearsal time in order to party. Perhaps that might explain the lack of enthusiasm in her dance on stage. I know I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Her dancing was sloppy, almost lazy like she didn't want to be there. I'll overlook any lip synching because it's common. But, you'd think with the not having to sing, you'd focus harder on the actual choreography.

While performing, also, it's best to at least be convincing. We all remember the Ashlee Simpson snafu on Saturday Night Live. We had a small reminder of that at the VMA's. Now, if you have a new album coming out, Britney, you should be able to mouth the words to your first single solidly, otherwise you won't get the people coming to concerts when you go out on tour. Without trying to sound mean, it's really unprofessional to be performing and not know the lyrics. However, that may explain the confusion on stage and that's easy for anyone to get flusted when they goof up. I've done it. Others, too, have done it.

Responsibility

This one I can't seem to ever avoid hearing about. Immaturity. Yes, Britney, you're young but seriously, you're not a child anymore. Your days of "I'm Not a Girl Not Yet a Woman" are over. You are a woman and it's time to start acting like a responsible, mature mother. That doesn't mean sacrificing your happiness in any way. You can still be whatever you want, but you need to keep it together. There are two little boys in the world now who do and will hopefully be able to look up to you. I, along with others, don't want to see them begin to despise you and consider you their 'joke' of a mother.

This means less partying, dress nicely and be a lady when you do go out for a night with the girls. Show them that they come first and that you are and want to be there for them. There are so many single mothers out there who do it on less money than you make, you can definitely do it, Britney. You just have to want to better yourself in order to succeed. Succeeding as a parent and reflecting that to the world will in turn help get those out there in the world to respect you.

I'm sure there are countless other ways that Britney Spears could return to her bombshell state. She has the talent, this we can't deny. She's beautiful, she was lively and she had so many people who idolized her. Some still do, but, some just had to give up. No matter what Britney decides to do to recover from this bomb out from the VMA's, hopefully she does it and regains her prior status as a pop diva.
