The L.A Times reports that singer, Britney Spears has been willingly committed to UCLA hospital.

On Tuesday, the courts refused to grant Spears visitation of her children. Spears had not slept in days and had spent a lot of time driving aimlessly. Spears' erratic behavior had been documented minute by minute through the lens of the paparazzi who she has developed relationships with.

She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance followed by a massive police motorcade fitting of a diplomat. Her mother, the pending author Lynn Spears and her peculiar paparazzi boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib trailed the ambulance. Her assistant Allie and sister, Jamie Lynne/Zoey had been by Spears' side.

Her psychiatrist had initiated the hold with the help of manager, Sam Lutfi. E reports that her mother Lynn was very much against the hold and did not want her daughter to be taken away.

Fortunately the Psychiatrists action is a legal one bounded by the California Welfare and Institutions code 5150. The Code specifically states that, "When any person as a result of mental disorder, is a danger to others or to himself a police officer or other professional person designated by the county department of mental health may initiate a 72 hour hold."

The L.A Times, E and People report that Britney was actually very willing to go despite her mother's protests. "The action taken by Britney could actually help her in the eyes of the court, " stated media personality and attorney Star Jones.

"In the court's eyes (when you're under treatment ) you're viewed as having a disability. Jones also stated that "getting treatment shows that someone is taking steps to getting better." This would improve her chances of seeing her children

Britney Spears' behavior may seem unusual but it could almost be expected for someone who was a workaholic from childhood.

Spears began working at the age of eight. She was a talented dancer and gymnast before she landed a role in the Mickey Mouse Club. As a teenager, she was signed by Zomba/Jive records.

Zomba is the largest independent music operation in the world. Originally based in South Africa, Zomba was started by Clive Caldera and Ralph Simon in 1971.

The company's interest has always been more publishing oriented. It has a controlling interest in Windsong/Pinnacle publishing and also holds an astronomical agreement with Virgin Music Group, distributing records in Africa, Latin America and Europe for Virgin.

Zomba sold 25% of its publishing division to the Windsor family of music, the Bertelsmann. The Bertelsmann family owns the label known as BMG.

With the various partnerships and acquiring of publishing between BMG and Zomba, Zomba was able to become the biggest independent label affording to get various hit makers for their projects.

In 1998, Swedish Songwriter/producer Martin Karl Sanberg who writes and produces under the name Max Martin had been vying to work on the TLC fanmail project. The project in TLC fashion was full of surprises, controversy and uncertainty but it still was a project every producer and writer wanted to get on.

At the time of Martin's submission TLC was in dispute with their long time producer, Dallas Austin over points and fees. The group had told MTV that they couldn't come to an agreement with Austin and were going to try and work with different producers.

Martin had specifically written a song entitled "Hit Me Baby One More Time" for TLC. He arranged the raspy vocals and tone to fit Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins. TLC ended up halting their entire project during their disputes. When they re-opened it the bulk of the production had gone to Austin.

Martin who was working with Backstreet Boys and Nsync decided to give the song to Britney Spears. Spears was able to pull off her best impression of the deep sultry boyish-sounding T-Boz and it worked for her.

Spears catapulted the single to phenomenal album sales. A star was born. Britney had enormous success from her first album. She became the All-American girl and a brand much bigger then anyone could have imagined. Spears worked and toured extensively and never ever took a break.

Britney was the biggest pop phenom in the world. She made billions of dollars for her label. Spears also made several people wealthy. Her management, her parents, her producers, songwriters, ghost-writers, agents, dancers and anyone lucky enough to profit from her brand got rich off Spears.

After a while a girl can become exhausted and "might just want to be a girl," as Britney stated to Headline News three years ago. Work began to exhaust her as it understandably should have and maybe despite her mother's objections being committed is the best thing that could have happened to Britney. She could finally get a real break and focus on bettering herself.

I agree with the comment. Sam Lutfi is the one who arranged for Britney to be in the hospital right now and not her parents. The first thing her parents did was petition to control her assets and they got a restraining order on Sam when it seems he's the only one trying to really help her. Britney i hope u get better and come out soon before your parents steal all of your money. love Tiffany

Is it just me or does Britney's mom seem to be the real problem? Why in the world would Lynn Spears be against her daughter getting the treatment she needs. Britney you might have some issues but your mother is the crazy one. Watch out for her she is bringing you down.
