Britney Spears Disappoints Perth Fans in Australian Circus Tour Debut Concert

Oops Britney - Maybe You Should Have Sung Your Songs!

Britney Spears needs to lift her game before her Aussie Circus Tour falls into the sawdust!

It is reported that Spears' audience numbered over 17,000 fans at last night's concert at Perth Burswood Dome. The screens only displayed circus images and Spears had her back to the audience for most of the show. Fans were disappointed that Britney did not interact with her fans and that the giant screens did not show any vision of Spears performing. Several fans questioned whether the lack of vision on the giant screens was to cover up her lip sync-ing.

So what does this mean for the rest of Britney's Australian concert dates?

To be perfectly honest, I would be livid if I had paid even AU$100 to see this type of event, let alone $1,500.

Stars of international status should be able to give fans a genuine performance for the big money they pay to attend these hyped-up events. Britney has had plenty of time since her recovery (from whatever it was that put her in the headlines for so long) to prepare for concert dates. What's happened to rehearsals, professionalism and giving fans value for money?

Let's hope something can be done to bring credibility to these mega-concerts before Britney loses most of her Aussie fans due to poor preparation and trying to do it the easy way.

As previously stated in the press - if Pink can hang upside-down on a trapeze and still belt out her song lyrics "live", why can't Britney? I guess this is why Pink has just finished performing 58 sold-out concerts in Australia and Britney will be struggling to complete 14.

Sing - Britney - Sing. That's what Australian fans want you to do. Anyone can mine a song. You need to show you still have what it takes to belt out your song lyrics.

Avoiding the Aussie Paparazzi

Apparently Britney's security team has been able to side-track the paparazzi by driving out of her Perth hotel in vehicles with dark tinted windows - the press in hot pursuit - while Brit casually left her hotel to attend rehearsals, waving to fans on the way out. This is fine. Anyone who sights a celebrity gets excited. What Brit needs to do is excite her seat-paying audience by abandoning "plastic performances" and doing it for "real".

Isn't rehearsal about getting ready to deliver the goods?

So, what exactly was Britney rehearsing? Lip-sync-ing? It seems like getting hundreds of crew setting up the stage is the only real part of this Circus Tour. Even humble circus performers would have put more time into rehearsal than Britney obviously has.

13 more Aussie concerts to go

With another 13 concerts to go in 4 other Australian cities, Aussie fans won't tolerate being duped. We are easy going, but just how easy do we have to be? There are still thousands of fans to please in the next 13 concerts. Can Britney gain credibility - or is her Australian Circus Tour to be the beginning of the end?

The lip-sync-ing debate

Maybe Britney's management should have made themselves aware that there is huge debate in Australian music circles about celebrity lip sync-ing and whether it (lip sync-ing) should be divulged in pre-concert advertising so fans can assess whether they will pay big bucks for a non-live performance.

Can Britney still sing?

If Britney wants to retain her new-found credibility, she needs to re-jig her gig and start behaving like the superstar she is supposed to be. It is all very well to be able to go into a recording studio with state-of-the-art technology to assist in getting a recording taped. It is entirely another to go out in front of thousands of fans and sing "live" to show them you really care about them paying high ticket prices to see you perform.

Let's go back to the past when entertainers were humble in front of their fans and value for money was the name of the game.

Oh baby, baby - get with it. You can do it Brit. Don't lose it all just when you are getting it all back together!

Lip-sync-ing has been around for decades. Back in the early 1960's, entire TV shows in Australia featured performers miming popular songs.

    Britney Sings Lives.
That is why you seen her wearing a mic on all her concert photos.
Honest reporters who were actually at the Perth concerts reported she did sing songs live. Walk out on dishonest reporters and cancel your subscriptions to false reporting news services who falsely accused and tried to harm innocent people.

See, that's why I don't pay for music concerts! You know they lip synch so much. We paid to see Jeff Dunham once, and it was worth every cent. No lipsynching at a comedy event! ;-)

I love Pink...but Brittany, well, I guess I'm not surprised. Bummer for her Aussie fans, though!

Perfect title! I can't help wondering if Britney has her confidence back and is ready to be in the limelight yet? I enjoyed reading this one.

Roz - no entertainer can just go through the motions and expect people to cop it. Aussies have proven to be great music fans and some entertainers would kill to get 17,000 of us in an audience and really put on a show. I think overuse of technology is spoiling these events.

Donna - some fans paid AU$1,500 - the cheap seats were $100. Some who walked out were the $1,500 ticket holders. I agree about her putting in a big effort to get her life back together. She seems to be doing that personally, but why would she take her fans for granted? 13 more concerts to redeem herself!

Thanks for the info on this concert. Tickets are so expensive for everything. It's a shame when entertainers disappoint. I really want this girl to get back on track. I don't know why but I just want her life to work out. I hope she learns from this dud performance.

You are so right Susan, fans pay that 100 to see a show which is what entertainers like Britney or Pink do along with their singing. It sounds like Britney is just up their going through the motions, bare minimum or motions, including singing. Great Report
