Britney Spears Does Vegas: Is She About to Make a Comeback?

Magnolia Miller
Back in 2007, when Britney Spears did Vegas it was, um, how shall we say it, less than stellar? Still very much in her downward spiral after her split from K-Fed, Britney took to the stage at the 2007 MTV Music Awards to perform her single "Gimme More."

It was billed as her comeback performance and everyone (myself included) tuned in eagerly to see if Brit-Brit was going to do it again one more time. So how was it? Well, let's just say she definitely left everyone wanting more, but definitely not for the right reasons.

She was pudgy (at least by Hollywood standards), ill-prepared, sluggish, and holy hair extensions, Batman, they were awful! She looked dirty and sloppy as she staggered around the stage, well okay; more like walked, and the audience was mystified. Folks couldn't tell if they should laugh or cry on her behalf. Rihanna chuckled nervously and Fifty-Cent just looked confused. Suffice it to say, it wasn't one of Britney's best moments.

Britney Spears has Sold over 100 Million Records

Since then, the Brit-ster has laid low, mothering her children, hanging with manager/boyfriend Jason Trawick and eating cheese grits and fried chicken, while her albums, Blackout (2007), Circus (2008), and A Collection of Singles (2009), danced their way (because, hey, Britney sure wasn't) right up the charts, giving Britney Spears even more bank and helping to make her one of the most successful recording artists in contemporary/pop music. So take that, ya'll.

And speaking of money. Say what you want about the Spears family, you know, all Louisiana trailer trashy and stuff. But, if it weren't for her father and mother, along with the California court system handing Jamie Spears conservatorship over Britney's life, she might have become yet another Hollywood tragedy spoken of only in the past tense. But as it is right now, she's poised to make one kick-ass comeback and I, for one, can't wait.

Britney Performs at The Palms in Las Vegas

Britney did a surprise show at The Palms Hotel in Vegas recently, and by all accounts it was an electrifying blow-out for those lucky enough to be there. Promoting her latest album, Femme Fatale, Britney performed for an ecstatic crowed of about 1,000 people in what was described as "crazy good and incredible".

The show, which included three songs off the new album, "Hold it Against Me", "Big Fat Bass" and "Till the World Ends" was also taped for a documentary which will be shown on MTV coinciding with the release of the album March 26th.

They say the Brit-ster rocked the house and appeared to be in fine form. And if her post-show Tweets are any indication (OMFG, it feels so good to be back on stage again!), then let's just shout it out right now - Britney's back, bitch! And oh, by the way, Britney, in case you haven't heard. Justin Timberlake is single again. I'm just sayin'.
