How to Design a Britney Spears Halloween Costume

When you starting thinking about your Britney costume you need to decide if you want a pre or post Federline look. The look you are going for will depend on your age or if you are male or female. One of the most creative options I have seen involves he man going as Britney and the woman going as Federline. Here we are going to describe how to get a post Federline look.

Let us start at the top. You have a couple options for hair styles. You could simply take a razor to your head and shave it all off. This option works well if you are a balding man already. A tight swimming cap also will work. While you might find an occasional picture of her as a brunette, your hair choice needs to be blond or you will not be recognized. Long, short, or in between.

Next, you need to think about the eyes. Normally, she wear fairly dark mascara and eye liner. Not too many options in this space.

Now you need to think about your clothes. You might have heard a lot about Britney's post-Federline dress (or lack thereof) options. I do not recommend any of these as you will be arrested - you never a good option on Halloween. But you can get a pair of black fishnet pantyhose and discreetly put them over or drape them around a pair of modest pants.

As far as a top goes, it is a absolute necessity to get a blouse with a wide and large plunging neckline -- usually some kind of combination between white and black and fairly formal looking. The plunging neckline is particularly effective if you are a man and slightly overweight. The black and white look will also go with the fishnet pantyhose.

You now only have two parts of your costume left. You need to come up with shoes and jewelry. Britney often wears open-toed, platform shoes. Again, white or black are your choices. I recommend black. Jewelry is pretty easy. She wears pretty minimal jewelry for the most part. You are going to want to get some kind of pendant necklace. Nothing terrible flashy - just a thin chain with an object a the end. Earring are a little more difficult. You want to get something long that also is attached to an ear cuff on one ear.

Now that your look is finished, you need to figure out where to get the clothes and jewelry for a minimal amount of cost. I usually get my Halloween gear at Goodwill. The advantage you have with the post-Federline is that her items have generally been less flashy. You might also consider a store like Ragstock. Remember that most looks can be replicated without breaking the bank and have fun doing it.
