Britney Spears' Life

I am a huge fan of the horror and thriller genres. Some blood spatters here, a little brain matter there, and bodies strewn about all twisted and dead like. Yummy! Yet, if a movie becomes excessively gory with constant blood sprays and graphic head smashes and body chopping, even I become sickened and have to turn away. The movie's story, the point for watching any movie, gets lost under gallons of blood, buckets of brain matter, and truck loads of bodies. Which brings me to Britney Spears' life; it's simply become a train wreck too gruesome to watch.

The first rumbles of trouble started way back when Britney dated Justin Timberlake. There were reports of underage drinking and excessive partying in Las Vegas. At the time, Britney was just 19 (middle aged by entertainment standards), but was partying and living it up. After she and Timberlake called it quits, it seemed her life train accelerated on its tracks but wasn't yet out of control.

Britney's life train accelerated again January 3, 2004, when she seemingly out of the blue married her high school sweetie, Jason Alexander. It was a Las Vegas whirlwind marriage that lasted a total of 55 hours before Britney had it annulled. The phrase "trailer park trash" started popping up in articles written about her. It seemed, Britney's life train took a bump but remained on its tracks.

In July 2004, just six months after annulling her marriage to Jason, Britney announced her engagement to Kevin Federline, a backup dancer and self-proclaimed celebrity. The mind boggles since Kevin's former girlfriend was pregnant with his second child. But, Brit seemed all together unconcerned. She and K-fed were married September 18, 2004, had two children, and divorced November 7, 2006. The train was shaking and threatening to jump the tracks.

During 2007 Brit's life train jumped its track and got caught up in torrent of blood, gore, and body parts. Articles detailing her every move and antic started appearing almost daily. She was dogged by the paparazzi day and night and even hit a couple of them with her car (body parts). She was caught partying after rehab. She shaved her head. She entered into a huge custody battle with K-fed over their two small boys. A photo was snapped of her exiting a car sans panties (gore). Britney's life was out there, a train wreck, all over the media for the whole world to see and read about.

By then, I couldn't look away even if a wanted to. Most of Brit's antics seemed trivial and even staged at times. After all, the paparazzi don't really need those body parts, do they? Who hasn't gone commando and been caught with her pants down at least once? Drinking? Pa-lease! Bad judgment, bad hair days, and a monstrously bad performance during the 2007 MTV Music Awards telecast -- all part of the celebrity persona, right?

But now, I am sickened and must turn away. Britney's train wreck of a life is too gruesome to watch. It's clear that she is so troubled that her antics can no longer be considered entertaining nor blown off as just part of the celebrity persona. Less than two weeks into 2008 her kids have been taken away from her. Because she wouldn't turn the children over to K-fed's representatives, the police were called to her house. She reportedly had a nervous break down. She spent two nights in the hospital under observation. And, possibly worst of all, she had to endure a visit from Dr. Phil.

Well, maybe I could watch a little if I place my hand over my eyes and look between my fingers. Brit's saga has so many twists and turns, I fear I must find out what happens next. I know I am a weak human being. But, questions linger. During 2008, can things get any worse for the Pop Princess? Will she get the help she so desperately needs? Who will she date next? Will she finally find a hairdresser who can do proper hair extensions? To get the answer to these questions, I will have to brave the blood, body parts, and gore that make up Britney Spears' life - a train wreck we all love to watch.
