Britney Spears "Performs" at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards

Britney Spears much talked about big comeback performance was anything but. For the past two weeks the entertainment industry outlets have been speculating about Britney Spears's big comeback, unfortunately her performance at the MTV 2007 Video Music Awards will not lead to the comeback that she so desires.

The Look

The opening shot of Britney's Spears routine was that of the back of her head. You can clearly see where her hair has started to grown out and where she has attached her cheap hair weave. Britney Spears has millions and millions of dollars at her disposal; you'd think that she could afford better hair.

Britney's outfit was just as bad as her hair. She wore a black sequenced short and bra type outfit. This outfit would have looked great on Britney about four years ago. Now she looks like a sad young woman with a curvy sway back and a belly that is way too large for those hot shorts.

The Singing
Britney Spears is certainly no stranger to a little thing known as lip-syncing. In fact in her early years there was quite a bit of speculations as to whether she was singing live of lip-syncing. She was that good at it, she made it her own. But on September 9th, 2007 at the MTV Video Music Awards there was no doubt that she was lip-syncing and doing it badly. She made no attempt to hide her lip-syncing. She mouthed the words of her song in the same manner that a cheerleader does when she is practicing her cheers in the back of her Algebra class but doesn't want anyone to hear her.

The Dancing

I remember when Britney Spears could dance, but things have obviously changed. At the 2007 Video Music Awards Britney did almost no dancing, but she did do a lot of walking around looking bored. Of the few times that Britney Spears actually tried to dance the viewer could catch her looking at her back up dancers for direction. At any given moment she was either two beats ahead or two beats behind the other dancers.

According to this performance we are made to believe that people still find Britney Spears engaging and attractive. Britney does plenty of grinding with her dancers and even gives one lucky male dancer a grab around his family jewels. Once again this type of sexuality is something that Britney Spears could have pulled off four years ago. But the world has seen far too many pictures of her drunk, bald, eating Cheeto's, and walking out of public restrooms in her bare feet to find this young woman attractive

Britney Spears' overall performance was, well there are not strong enough words to describe how poor her performance was and it is certainly a far cry from a comeback. It's sad that this young woman will most likely never be able to salvage her career. And to tell the truth after watching her performance I'm starting to wonder if she even cares.
