Britney Spears Releases "Piece of Me" Music Video

Late last night, and early this morning the Internet was abuzz with fans reacting to media starlet Britney Spears' new music video for the song "Piece of Me". While the video wasn't originally slated to debut until mid January, Britney's camp pushed up the premiere and garnered publicity for it on last night's episode of "20/20". Soon thereafter, the video was released to the public on her official website Britney.com as well as Mtv.com.

Britney, who's personal life appears to be one long media frenzy, turns the tables on the Paparazzi in this second single from her album "Blackout". In the song's opening verse she describes her frustrations: "I'm Miss American Dream since I was 17 / Don't matter if I step on the scene / or sneak away to the Philippines / They still got a picture of my derriere in the magazine / You want a piece of me? / You want a piece of me?".

The music video follows the general theme of the song, showing Britney overwhelmed by the photographers and ridiculous tabloid headlines. Britney and some back-up dancers dress alike to fool the Paps and when one manages to sneak into the club she's partying at, Britney reveals his hidden camera and writes "Sucker" across his forehead in bright red lipstick. A choreographed dance routine at the end of the video shows that contrary to popular belief, Britney hasn't completely lost it.

Even Perez Hilton (famed gossip columnist for PerezHilton.com) who is very vocally unsporting of the pop star's comeback said, "There are many hot mess moments in it, but overall it's much better than the Gimme More vid!" on his website this morning. Fans from websites like BreatheHeavy.com are in general consensus that not only is it better than her highly criticized video for "Gimme More", but that it shows that their favorite sensation is back. User Mrs-Brit-Fan just posted on the site's forum "can you say fabulous? she looks great, everything about this video is great. she totally is rockin it. I have no problem saying this is probably one of the best Britney videos...".

There are two different versions of the video being circulated currently, a US Version and an International one. Britney's song "Piece of Me" is currently 24th on the iTunes Top Songs list.
