Britney Spears Solidifies Her Comeback at 2008 MTV Video Music Awards

Britney Spears has been to the MTV Video Music Awards before but not like this.

A very elegant Britney Spears showed up at the 2008 MTV Music Awards in Los Angeles September 7th. Even British Comedian Russell Brand couldn't help but notice Spears for appearing rather regal and classy in her glistening silver dress and long blonde waves.

The singer, dancer, actor garnered awards for best pop video, best female video and video of the year. A smiling and poised Spears thanked God, her children and her record label for her awards.

"Thank you. I'm in shock right now. I was not expecting this" Spears said after accepting the video of the year award for "Piece of Me".

This sharp Britney Spears that snagged three moon men at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards is quite a contrast to the Britney Spears that showed up at the 2007 Awards. Last year critics accused Spears of lip-synching and having a meltdown during her performance of "Gimme More".
Spears is over the negativity and laughing about it. At the beginning of the show Spears makes light of criticism in a pre-taped comedy sketch with actor Jonah Hill.

Spears was nothing short of stunning. A commendable fete for the mom after a turbulent year in which custody of her two children was granted to her former husband Kevin Federline.

Paris Hilton presented Spears with an award said to her: " I love you. I miss you. And it's so good to see you."

Rhianna, Pink, and TI were also memorable. Rhianna opened the show in what could have been a tribute to "Thriller." Dressed in a black-feathered bustier and thigh high boots she performed "Distubia" surrounded by an army of dancers outfitted in what may be their Halloween costumes. Nevertheless Rhianna was quite entertaining in a disturbing kind of way. Back lot performances from the Jonas Brothers, Pink and TI were also memorable but the night belonged to Britney Spears.
