Britney's Million Dollar Locks

Britney Spears' recently cut locks can be yours for a cool million on eBay - bids are being taken by the salon owner in whose salon the newly-shorn star had her weekend meltdown. Esther Tognozzi of Esther's Haircutting Studio in Tarzana, California, is selling Britney's leftovers - her hair, a half drank Red Bull energy drink and her blue Bic lighter. "We still don't know why Britney chose our shop. We'll probably never know," said the shop owner's husband, JT Tognozzi.

He said "some" proceeds from the sale would go to charity, possibly including the Florida-based Locks of Love, which supplies wigs to kids with cancer. The Tognozzis are not the only ones selling Britney hair pieces. But they say pile of hair is the only authentic Spears hair on eBay, despite the dozens of other competing claims.Loads of copycats are already on board at eBay- offering everything from a $3815 lock of dark hair from a seller in Ohio to $114,850 blond tuft - which apparently is the wrong color.

A Canadian web developer asked for upwards of $1 million for hair he claims one of his employees snatched off the salon floor. He claims to have video proof of the snatch. However, Tognozzi said his wife, her assistant, Spears and the singer's bodyguard were the only people in the shop at the time. He said they had closed the business for the night and all the doors were locked when Britney arrived.

"It's pretty crazy, all the frauds and stuff that's out there," Tognozzi said, "They're not even in our state."

A recent article has described Spears as being on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The 25-year-old's public behavior has become increasingly odd. Her party night with Paris Hilton and the infamous non-panty pictures seemed to be the beginning of her weird new world. She has since been reported to have checked herself into a rehabilitation clinic but left after only 24 hours.

Spears was videotaped shaving her head in Esther's Haircutting Studio on Friday evening before going to a tattoo parlor, where she reportedly had a tattoo of a pair of lips put on to her wrist.

Yesterday psychologists said her behavior was worrisome erratic and suggested she get professional help. Video shot by a local Los Angeles television station showed Spears taking the clippers to her hair as the paparazzi gleefully looked on. This has fueled rumors that this is not a breakdown but more likely a publicity stunt for the troubled singer.

The sellers don't bother me one bit -- it's the stupidity of anyone who would want Brit's hair in the first place that drives me nuts.

I really hope ita ll goes to Locks of Love - waht else are you going to do with the hair? Actually, I don't even want to know the answer to that.

I dont mind the owners of the salon trying to make a few bucks... its the amwerican way to make money in wierd ways... whoever buys it should hafve thier head examined though.

My big issue is the fact that these sorts of "stars" are role models for young girls... Im not trying to sound like a conseritive zealot as im not, but this is not the sort of girl I would want my kids emulating.

It sickens me the lengths people will go to make a little money. To sell her hair for a million dollars in ridiculous.

I can understand liking a celebrity but what in the heck are you going to do with hair? Would you save hair off of your own head? Probably not, so why would you want anybody else's? I can see it the next headline: Britney's Toenail Clippings for sale! Nail polish chips still intact! LOL Great article by the way. :)

Great info. I cannot believe the amount of fraud on ebay and how it tolerates it. Obviously all those auctions cannot be real.
