Brittany Murphy Autopsy Report "Leaked" to TMZ
LA Coroner's Office Investigating Leak of Brittany Murphy's Preliminary Autopsy Report to Celebrity Gossip Site TMZ
TMZ reported Tuesday on the details of the paramedics response to the 911 call to Brittany Murphy's Hollywood Hills home, where they found the actress unresponsive. In the report, TMZ listed a number of prescription drugs allegedly found in the home, including Topamax (an anti-seizure medication), Fluoxetine (treats depression), Klonopin (anxiety), Propranolol (a hypertension medicine also used in the prevention of heart attacks), Ativan (anxiety), Vicoprofen and Hydrocodone (pain).
TMZ posted paramedics' notes, which read, in part: "A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent's name. Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names." TMZ also noted that the report also stated that "no... illegal drugs were discovered."
The Coroner's Office nor Winter would confirm or deny the accuracy of the TMZ report. Winter said that he still had not seen the list of medications included in the report.
The leak of Brittany Murphy's preliminary autopsy report is reminiscent of the reported "leaked" Michael Jackson autopsy report. Two days after the Michael Jackson autopsy, the British tabloid The Sun claimed to have a copy of the official preliminary report. The Sun revealed in graphic detail the condition of Michael Jackson's body. But the Coroner's Office claimed there was no "leaked" document at all and that the tabloid had fabricated their story. They are making no such claim with the Brittany Murphy autopsy report.
The Coroner's Office announced Monday that Brittany Murphy died of what appeared to be natural causes but an official announcement as to the cause of death would have to await the results of toxicology tests.
Legal ramifications aside, does the "leaked" autopsy report shed more light on Brittany Murphy's death? In short, no. The presence of prescription medications in the house mean nothing, because it is unknown as yet whether or not Murphy took any of them prior to her collapse. The actress may have taken some or several, made herself a drug "cocktail," or even accidentally mixed her medications with others, causing a deadly reaction. She may have accidentally taken too many. She may have purposefully taken too many. And she may have taken nothing before going into the shower at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
TMZ might have some explaining to do (but they'll protect their source) and the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will have to conduct an internal investigation, but the public disclosure of Brittany Murphy's autopsy report does nothing but cause possible legal problems for the Coroner's Office and provide more fodder for speculation for the media.

The last 2 perscription drugs are NOT forms of synthetic Heroin U Moron. Topamax is also used for people who have biopolar and mood disorders. Stupid people topamax isn't what killed her. I know plently of people that are on it and they have been on it for years and they are still alive.
People want to know the cause of her death in order to potentially prevent similar occurrences in the future. What is wrong with trying to find the truth in a situation?
Kudos to those who leaked the story, why withhold any info at this time? Lets move on and take steps to prevent such events in the future.

The last two drugs mentioned in the article are essentially synthetic forms of heroin. Just because something is prescribed doesn't make it A OK.
And to all of you comment makers who love your celebrities, you should be on the side of those that leaked this story. This is yet another prescription drug overdose to a celeb. just like anna nicole, heath ledger, michael jackson, etc.
topamax is used for headache prevention as a daily dose . as for the other medications obviously we dont know the truth none of us were there . but like all of us she was human and maybe she was prescribed these because her physician felt she needed them who really knows . but it is tragic and just because she was a celebrity does not mean she was misusing her meds if indeed she was even on them . how about some compassion for a young lady that is no longer with us and a family suffering there is only one judge and he is about peace and love not our place to speculate..
I always thought see looked like a hidden drug addict. It looked to me like she might bust into tears at any moment or that she had been crying in her trailer just before her scenes. I'm sure they'll find cocaine along with other perscription drugs that would not mix and stimulate an iminate effect of deadly outcomes. If you didn't see it coming you don't know what a persons eyes can really tell you about thier state of mind.
She was an amazing actress in a varitay of films. we will all miss her and her amazing abilty to entertain the world.RIP
What does it matter what the reason of her death was? The outcome is the same... we lost a great actress. She was sooo funny in her comedies. I feel that if the autopsy was "leaked" when and if they find out who leaked it should be punished. Why do people feel the nedd for their greed to fed by someone else's tragedy!?
