Death Appears to Be from Natural Causes

Actress Brittany Murphy was declared dead at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. According to omg.yahoo.com, paramedics responded to a 911 call placed about 8:00 am from her home. The actress was transported to Cedars Sinai, where she was pronounced dead at 10:04 am.

The LAPD has launched an investigation into the young actress's death, but the coroner's office reports that so far the death appears to have occurred from natural causes. People.com reports that the hospital has listed her possible cause of death to be a possible heart attack, however, this will not be confirmed until the autopsy is complete.

The autopsy will test for the presence of drugs and alcohol, though no illegal drugs were found inside her home. Her family reported that Murphy suffered from flu-like symptoms for several days before her death. Her mother also reported a history of diabetes, and that Murphy was taking prescription medications, although what medications are not known at this time.

Brittany Murphy's career started off when she was only 9 in a production of Les Miserables. From there, the budding young actress landed roles on TV's Murphy Brown, Blossom, and a number of other shows, before rising to stardom in movies such as Clueless, Girl, Interrupted, and 8 Mile. She was nomiated for many awards for her work throughout her career. She won awards for her roles in Happy Feet and King of the Hill, both animated works.

In 2007, Murphy wed screenwriter Simon Monjack. Readers of okmagazine.com's article regarding Monjack's reaction are already accusing Monjack of being involved, and demanding investigation. Though the gossip site seems to intimate that Monjack's reaction to events seemed somehow abnormal, at this time there seems to be no reported evidence to suggest anyone was involved in her death.
