Brittany's Murphy's Husband, Simon Monjack, Dead at 39

Simon Monjack, husband of the late Brittany Murphy, was found dead at the home he shared with Brittany's mother, Sharon on Sunday, May 23, 2010. According to NJ.com, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has already issued a ruling of "natural causes"in the death of Simon Monjack, who was 39 years old.

TMZ, In the meantime, reports that law enforcement sources are saying prescription drugs may be involved and that Monjack was also scheduled for heart bypass surgery in September. If his heart condition brought about his demise, then his death would stem from that illness. It took quite a while for toxicology report results to be released after the death of Brittany Murphy, and undoubtedly, the same thing will occur regarding her husband.

Simon Monjack's death is shocking not only because of it coming so soon on the heels of the shocking death of his wife and just as unexpectedly, but because of the "deja vu" aspect and spooky similarities to his wife's death on December 20, 2009. He died in the same house, in the same bedroom and was discovered by Murphy's mother, Sharon, just as she was. Ms. Murphy was 32 years old at the time of her death.

Prescription drugs were again found in the home when paramedics arrived at the scene of Simon Monjack's death. No illegal substances have been found as yet. Brittany Murphy's toxicology report revealed that she had "elevated levels" of Vicodin and other drugs in her system. Suicide was ruled out, however, and her death was ruled accidental, but preventable.

After his wife's death, Simon Monjack was criticized for attempting to cash in on her fame and popularity by setting up a "charity foundation" and filing a wrongful-death suit against Warner Bros., while releasing strange photographs of his wife.

There is already speculation that he may no longer have wished to live. Earlier this year, in January, Simon Monjack's mother, Linda,, told People Magazine: "Simon is exactly as you would expect someone to be who has just lost the woman he loved. Some days he wants to kill himself, and other days he seems to be coping better. He is distraught. I speak to him everyday, and he is often in tears." But he was said to be doing his best to stay strong for the sake of Brittany's mother.

Ms. Murphy''s films credits included "Clueless" (1995), "Girl, Interrupted" (1999), and she appeared as Eminem's girlfriend in "8 Mile" (2002)

Simon Monjack was most famous for co-writing and producing "Factory Girl," a 2006 film based upon the life of Andy Warhol protegee, Edie Sedgwick (played by Sienna Miller). Edie Sedgwick also died at a very young age.
