Broken and Beautiful

Tonia Rich
Wandering traveller, weary and lost,
Lay where you've fallen, let down your cross.
Black and blue lover, trapped in your fear,
Clinging to love, holding it dear.
Children ignored, cries go unheeded,
Carrying emptiness, for things that you needed.
Crying alone in your room in the dark,
This world feels so cold, so harsh and so stark.
Contrasting realities, demons dine there,
Where all of your nightmares lay bare.
We're all just vessels, broken apart,
Licking our wounds and nursing our hearts.
But deep in the hollow, a light grows dim,
A flicker of hope, set there by Him.
A God who sees our hurting, our pain,
He washes away the darkest of shame,
He casts away lonliness in our hearts,
For broken and beautiful is what we all are.
