Broken Silence

TG
t's so blissful up here. I feel at peace. Alone. Unhindered and free. Free to do nothing but watch and listen and dream. London, Paris, New York - names, only names. Names that had once meant excitement, then boredom, then frustration, then slavery. Names that had brought me no where, but to the brink of insanity. But here? No. The sound of the chaotic city is hushed, forgotten. The muttering engines, blasting horns and traffic jams all become but a murmur. The never-ending rush of the city is put on hold, time simply ceases. I close my eyes. A gentle breeze blows upon my face. I listen, to hear nothing but a sweet whistling lullaby. As if in some sort of trance, I find I'm going deeper, deeper into this dream. I'm losing myself. A sudden shudder soon awakens me, I open my eyes. I look below, and again I am reminded of the cruel reality of this nightmare, this nightmare that lays just storeys beneath me, the nightmare that I seek so desperately to leave behind. I take a final gaze into the sky, painfully collecting my thoughts, my memories. Closing my eyes. I take my very last breath. I'm falling.
