On second and goal Denver's quarterback Jay Cutler dropped backed to pass when the ball slipped out of his hand and was recover by the Chargers. The play was initially ruled an incomplete pass on the field, but was reviewed because it was under the two minute mark of the game. After the review the Broncos kept the ball, but lost yardage. Well it was obvious to everyone that you can' lose yards on an incomplete pass. Norv Turner was going crazy and rightfully so, and should still be going crazy after the official explanation. Cutler obviously fumbled the ball, but since the officials whistled the play dead before the Chargers recovered the Broncos got to keep the ball at the spot of the fumble. A great break for the Broncos and they would capitalize on it.
Two plays later Cutler hit Eddie Royal in the end zone for the touchdown to bring the Bronco's within one. The game seemed headed to overtime when Mike Shanahan signaled to go for the 2-point conversion. As a Bronco fan my stomach started turning because since the retirement of Elway the offense has never been consistent. Again, Cutler found Royal for the conversion and the Broncos took the lead 39-38, an unbelievable ending in an exceptional game.
Cutler looked great again and the Broncos offense seemed unstoppable at times. Outside of Cutler's interception in the fourth quarter and his fumble, he looked perfect. He was in tuned with his receivers and his decision-making was fantastic. Brandon Marshall, in his return from a one game suspension, set a new Broncos record for receptions in a game and tied the NFL record for second all time.
The Chargers offense looked great as well, even without Tomlinson, but they are now 0-2. Both losses came in heart breaking fashion and the team that was picked to win the AFC West has yet to win a game. On the flip side there were many question marks surrounding the Broncos coming into the season and many have been answered. Their defense is not all that it could be but the offense looks fantastic. The Broncos are 2-0 and on top of the AFC West for now and look like a playoff bound team.

Post a Commentits ridiculous that those calls were put through to decide the game. Yes the broncos played a good game and yes the chargers should have done better, but if those calls were CORRECT then the chargers would have won. The first crappy call led to a denver touchdown as did the second. Well when week 17 comes lets hope we get a decent ref to prove that denver needs something besides fixed calls to win
