Broncos' Champ Bailey Supports 'The Crossing' Charity

Champ Bailey Plays Santa, and not just During the Holidays

During the holidays there is always a bunch of hustle and bustle, even on the Denver Broncos playing field. We are not talking about what you are probably thinking about. Champ Bailey plays the best off the football field as he is putting smiles on the faces of families in his community.

You may think that Champ Bailey hangs out at The Crossing only during the Christmas holidays, when that is not the case at all. In fact, he spends his time there quite often. The Crossing is a homeless shelter in the community in which he spends a lot of his time. It is not just Champ Bailey who spends time there, it is the entire Denver Broncos team.

Broncos cornerback, Champ Bailey says, according to a CBS 4 video here, "Well, I come here about once a month and I visit the kids. We actually play lots of games, activities and read books." He goes on and says, "A lot of good things come out of this because these guys get to see me as a positive influence." About the kids, "I kinda want to give them a positive sense of life and I think they feed on that".

When asked why he chose this charity, he said, "When I came here I wanted to do something special. This was the only place that really like touched me. When you come here and see these kids, they have no clue what they can become."

Most importantly, he says, "I really want to help them build their confidence."

This time of the year they actually have a Christmas party at the shelter in which Champ Bailey and the rest of the Denver Broncos attend. They help make gingerbread cookies, sing Christmas carols and do many other Christmas activities.

The Denver Broncos frequent The Crossing homeless shelter about once a month. Champ Bailey takes pride in "being the leader" of the team to be a prime example to not only his team mates, but to the children as well. It is obvious that he loves the idea he can build confidence in the children by playing games and doing other activities with them.

When Champ was asked about Christmas with "the Bailey family", he answered, "this will be the first year that I have my brother in town". He is happy that his family will be together, because usually they are practicing or playing on the field.

Champ leads by example and that makes him the real champ that he is. The idea of volunteering at the Crossing Homeless Shelter is to be that example for children so that they can gain confidence to grow up and become whatever they want to be. Not only that, he wants to be an example to his other Denver Broncos team mates, as well. This allows the team to see what it takes to be a real champ!
