This museum houses sculptures in a garden setting. They have over 1,200 pieces of sculptures from various artists in their over 300 acre facility. There are various places to sit along the way in order to view these works of art.
There is also a children's area with hands-on displays. You kid can dig for pottery pieces, or do nature rubbings. There are also a number of other child friendly exhibits.
Carl Milles, George Gray Barnard, and James Earle Fraser are some of the many artists you'll find here.
The gardens have many species of flowers and plants growing in their many acres. Seasonal flowers bloom, in their respective months. Over the year you'll be able to see flowers such as daffodils, winter jasmine, ginger lily, swamp hibiscus and trees like the crape myrtle and southern magnolia.
There is also a zoo on site with various animals like alligators, foxes, and owls. They also have lots of birds and barnyard animals like chickens and sheep.
They also offer a few programs that run daily where you will learn about the animals, witness feedings, and more.
During spring, summer, and fall, they have a sightseeing type boat tour. You need to purchase additional tickets that are $7 for adults and $4 for kids.
If you get hungry than you can order things like sandwiches, drinks, soups, and snacks at the 3 eateries they have. The Pavilion Restaurant, Old Kitchen and the Courtyard Café' are the names of these dining facilities. If you wish to bring your own picnic style lunch, they have areas available outside the gardens and restrooms nearby for your convenience.
If you are bringing children, than there are strollers available for free.
The Brookgreen Gardens are open throughout the year from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. with extended hours during the summer months. They are only closed on Christmas.
The price of admission is as follows: Adults between the ages of 13 and 64 are $12; children ages 4 through 12 are $6: kids under the age of 3 are admitted for free; and seniors over the age of 65 are $10. They also offer discounts for large groups over 15, and they do allow school fieldtrips at a discount as well.
You ticket is good for 7 days, so you'll have plenty of time to explore the gardens and many sculptures they offer here.
