2010 Next Wave Festival Highlights
Some festival highlights include Next Wave Art exhibitions, Between the Lines storytelling series and weekend music performances. Between the Lines will include short films, performances and readings on select themes.
Another highly anticipated performance is an electronica and rock version of Persephone starring Julia Stiles. The show will run from October 26 to 30th at the Harvey Theater. Opera fans should see Evan Ziporyn's A House in Bali. This new opera will feature music from a Balinese gamelan group and is based on composer Colin McPhee's memoirs.
Carnival Masqueraders in Brooklyn
The Carnival Masqueraders in Brooklyn runs until January 5, 2011. According to Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration, this exhibit by photographer Anthony Bonair documents the carnival costume designs at the Labor Day Carnival celebration in Brooklyn. Video of live performances and photographs will be on display at the Skylight Gallery. This BAM about Brooklyn event will be held on the third floor at 1368 Fulton Street.
Next Wave Festival Tickets
Tickets can be bought at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's website or through BAM Ticket Services at (718) 636-4100. Members receive waived fees and special discounts. The 2010 Next Wave Art exhibit is free and located in the Peter Jay Sharp Building. Some artist talks are also free with the purchase of performance tickets. The Carnival Masqueraders in Brooklyn is free as well.
According to NYC Arts, Student and senior rush tickets are available 90 minutes before showtime at the BAM Box Office. You can call BAM Ticket Services at 3 p.m. on the day of the performance to be sure that they are offering rush ticketing. Students must present their student ID and senior ticketing is for patrons 64 and older.

BrooklynAcademy of Music (BAM)
The Brooklyn Academy of Music is located at 30 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217. You can get to BAM by taking the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains to Atlantic Avenue or Nevins Street. Additional options include the G train to Fullton Street or the C train to Lafayette Avenue.
