While choosing to park a car in a bike lane may make it easier for the motorist to find a parking spot, the same cannot be said about a cyclists choosing to ride in vehicular traffic lanes to avoid parked cars in bike lanes.
Even while using bike lanes, cyclists have to be more wary of danger to themselves than motorists do while driving in vehicle lanes. When a motorist parks in a lane designated for bikes, he takes away the small measure of relief from danger the cyclist has while riding in the bike lane.
Pedestrians have sidewalks. Vehicles have vehicular traffic lanes. What's so difficult about bikes having bike lanes in Brooklyn or elsewhere?

Post a CommentI would think you would get a ticket parking in a bike lane. It isn't designated parking. We have lovely biking areas all over but not on the streets. You can get from city to city and around by using bike trails rather than on the streets with traffic, although that is necessary at times.
