Brooklyn's Finest Review

Brooklyn's Finest likes like all the other cop movies, but not in the way it was executed. The story line and the great acting performances really helped in making up the movies overall structure. The movie had a very neat idea, it had three minor story lines happening all in one movie. One involves an undercover officer that finds himself struggling between what's right and what's considered corrupt, a narcotics officer that endures in his mix of corruption, and an old officer on the verge of retiring at the end of his last week on the job. All of the cops that play in these little mini plots are acted out by Don Cheadle the undercover cop, Ethan Hawke the narcotics officer, and Richard Gere the aging officer and all of them play a part in each other's lives are connected to each other all on one fateful night.

Ethan Hawke (plays the corrupt narcotics cop Sal) he's probably in my opinion the best of all three roles, not taking anything away from Don Cheadle or Richard Gere, but they were pretty decent at playing their character's roles as well. How these characters development evolve throughout the movie leaves no surprise as to what will happen in where their lives are headed. It was also a pleasant surprise to see Wesley Snipes who plays the role of a former criminal and friend to Cheadle. His character in the movie is Caz he's a violent drug king that's run the streets of Brooklyn for quite some time. He's done it for such a long time that he has slowly lost his edge on the streets because he doesn't no who to trust. The only person that he can confide in is in fact Tango who's an actual undercover cop and Caz not knowing hurts him that much more As I have already previously stated before it's the great work from the main character's in the movie that makes Brooklyn's Finest worth your while.

It's so amazing that every one of these cops have a certain drive that's quite compelling in that sense. The narcotics officer Sal currently has five children excluding the two he has on the way, finds himself in so much debt he simply doesn't know what to do about it. He tries to set his family up for a better life, so his wife and children can live in a bigger home, since their current home is relatively small. He was looking to take his share of a drug bust and use that money to purchase a bigger home that, he had picked out through the real estate contact. As time passes by and the date comes near in which he needs to come up with the money, he grows alarmingly more desperate. This is probably one of the best performances he's given since the movie Training Day and out of the three other cops he plays his role best. He pulled off being a desperate man taking desperate measures into his own hands in order to get what it is that he wants, that it captured that in the way he played his role.

Richard Gere's character Eddie plays a miserable old cop that no longer has the respect he once had for the job and all of the other cops at the police department have all lost their respect for him. The only thing that he's given in the last week on the job before he retires is to teach a rookie the ropes of the job but it doesn't necessarily go according to plan. He does seem to capture the role of a cop that loses all hope for his job just by looking at all of the emotion he portrays in this movie. I felt every sweat and emotion on his face that he did indeed look as if he was an actual NYPD cop.

Than finally there's Tango played by Don Cheadle and he's the undercover cop to has no ties to reality. Everything he knows and does is based on lies he creates in order to obtain information from other people by being deceptive. His life is in ruins because everything is slipping away from him, his wife leaves him and files for a divorce. He clearly wants to become a first grade detective, so he can spend the rest of his life living comfortably behind a desk and removed far away from dealing with a life of crime. He realizes that he finds himself in constant danger and that he no longer feels safe in doing so and how it has vastly consumed his life.

The movie Brooklyn's Finest is a rather engaging film because it does catch your attention. Many of the action scenes were very well done because everything falls one by one and it makes it that much more interesting. It takes a huge amount of imagination to create a storyline this well and yet make it a great film. This movie is indeed a must watch movie, it gets two thumbs up by me for the movies shear genius. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
