Brookville, Ohio, Celebration Slated for End of July

Brookville Community Picnic

Annamarie
Brookville, Ohio -- Our annual Community Picnic celebration is July 26th, 27th, and 28th and this will be the first time I am attending as I am a brand new neighbor in Brookville. Brookville is a glorious close knit town that has the quiet country living and helpful citizens and is close to loads of shopping. I am fortunate enough to be referred to Brookville Historical Society Research Library to locate information of my maternal ancestors. What a wealth of information the volunteers, founders, and descendants of Brookville have in their hearts, minds, and research.

I had looked for years and was unable to locate information of the town my Mother and her family lived in when they relocated from Virginia to Ohio. Eaton Public Library referred me to Brookville to get answers about my ancestors. I was amazed at the depth of detail, the generosity, and the friendliness of strangers in both these glorious towns. On my first first to Brookvile I met with Brookville Historical Research Library volunteers and was informed their did indeed know of my Mother Ruby's family and had hard copy census, news articles, and many glorious hometown stories that I could never had gotten from the Internet resources.

During my first meeting with these volunteers who are Brookville long time residents I learned of all the ancestry information I had searched for all these years. They told me my Grandparents; Peter Joseph Stonecash and Blanche Martha Hall lived on Western Ave and had a tailor shop on Market street which was right across the street from their Research Library. They showed me maps and articles about the history of Brookville and for the first time I saw my family names in print and it was accurate to the smallest detail.

They are the nicest and most patient folks that helped with fill in all the gaps of information. They located where my Great Grandmother Catherine Greer Hall was buried right here in Brookville, Ohio; and my Great Aunts and Uncles from the Stonecash and Blankenship families buried close to each other on Arlington Road in Arlington/Parish cemetery. What a tremendous gift of joy it was to spend time with these researchers and be able to visit the burial grounds of my family. I was given names and phone numbers of local residents to learn more about my family. All of these resources were folks that lived in this area and who knew of my family. My heart is healed; I do have family and they are in Brookville, Ohio and surrounding towns and they are just as neighborly and precious and my Mother and Father and my ancestors.

I followed up on all the leads of information about my family and have located a son of my Great Aunt and Uncle who lives in Brookville; he was gracious enough to tell me about our family and took me to a nearby family to meet family members who actually knew my Mother and her family and have pictures of my ancestors and they are so friendly and giving and they shared family stories that are so heartfelt. Now I have the opportunity to share in my very first family reunion in this wonderful Brookville, Ohio. Our Brookville Community Picnic is a neighborly event with outstanding food vendors, glorious vendors with their crafts and wares, and our Brookville Historical Society Research Library will have a booth.

If you want to see the finest and most neighborly town I have ever lived in come join us at our annual Community Picnic; come see for yourself what a wonderful place Brookville is as we combine country, suburbia, small town, and village neighborhoods for the grandest event of the year. Hope to see ya all there!! You will see the friendliness town you have ever experienced.

I didn't know who's picture it was beside my comment, so I thought I'd better add another comment. Keep on writing, don't ever quit.
