Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Review (PS3)

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a First Person Shooter game released for Playstation 3 and created by Gearbox Software. There's a ton of first person shooters around, and this is yet another one. However, it does have some certain elements that make it unique among the others. Let's take a look.

Story : The story is actually one of the main reasons to play the game. Fans of the franchise will absolutely love this game, tons of character development that carries over from the previous installments and lots of cool stuff to see. There are a ton of cut scenes and all are well done and make the story fun.

Graphics : The graphics in this game are phenomenal. Very good in pretty much all cases. Everybody's drawn and animated well and there's tons of details in pretty much everything. They spared no effort in the graphics department of this game. The overhaul of the graphics in this franchise was a long time coming and they did a great job in the end. An excellent game, graphically.

Sound : This game has excellent sound design. Everything here sounds appropriate and many things have their own unique sound with different interpretations of it. An excellent game as far as sound design goes. The music is a bit iffy. There's not much variety and much of the music is ambient. Regardless, a good amount of effort was put into it and it's commendable. The voice acting is very good, as usual.

Game play : The game has gone through a few changes since the last installment, there's now a third person view. It can be a little strange if you're used to the system from other games. I can't say it's bad or good, it's just different. I personally didn't like it, but you might not have a problem with it or even like it.

There are a ton of missions in this game, which is a good thing. Unfortunately there's some solo missions which don't feel right with the brotherhood aspect of the game. Tactically there's lots of fun things you can do in the game, and there's now a bazooka squad which will surely put a smile on your face. There's a huge variety of weapons and many ways to defeat certain situations.

Re playability : A large part of the re playability in these games is the multi player function. It exists here, but isn't particularly fun compared to similar games. Other than that, you can do pretty much all you need to on the first run.

Overall : 7/10. Great story, great graphics, great sound, nice game play, mediocre multi player. A solid, above average game.
