Brown Leather Boots

Darren Stansbury
The sky is the color of carne guisada
Because you have gravy on your brain.
You're like a salad among the meat and potatoes:
You are forever lost and evergreen.
Life today is brown leather boots
That kick your butt every day and night.

Times are tougher than overdone brisket
Times are hard, but you're soft as a biscuit.
Among the steel you're fluffy like a pillow.
That makes you sag like a weeping willow.

So, you see a man in a steaming hot tub.
A rub-a-dub-dub with a gun in the tub.
He has a cigar in his other hand.
He's the boss man, do you understand?

The moan and droan drives you insane.
Feel the steam and feel the drain.
Tomorrow's just like yesterday.
Every day and night's the same.
