from the vegetarian version to our own homemade patties. We ordered ground chicken and turkey from the butcher and purchased small quantities of spices from the bulk store, and after numerous attempts to perfect a lower fat, lower cholesterol breakfast patty resulted in a failure.
One day while shopping at the local supermarket, I noticed a new item in the freezer section. Banquet Brown and Serve Turkey Sausage. We painfully looked at each other as we knew we didn't care for the original as it turned out like the food you got in the school cafeteria, bland and dry. I gave in, and purchased a box. At the time it was on sale for 10 for $10, so the pinch to the pocket book was nothing for a try. The first day my spouse had off we took out the turkey links from the freezer and opted to try 2 in the pan, and 2 in the microwave. The pan cooking was not different in taste to the microwave cooking, since we have a cover for microwave cooking to keep steam in.
There we sat at the dinner table, looking at each other to see who would be the brave one to try it first. I won the challenge to not try it first. I watched him patiently as to see any eye squinting, or the facial expression a baby would get upon trying the vegetables in a jar for the first time, but he did not make any face. OK, either he is holding back for me to get grossed out, as sometimes he does, or he actually likes it. I took a breath and gave it try. To my surprise it was actually good. It did not taste bland like turkey from the deli, nor was it greasy. After a couple more weekends of our big breakfast, we are hooked. We like this product and will buy more.
What makes this Turkey sausage different then the beef, or original is it is not so chewy, like a rubber band as we found in the past. The key is to cook it on half power, like the box says, for the exact time in order to ensure no dryness. You will have a descent tasting, lower fat, lower cholesterol breakfast you can enjoy without so much guilt or the bland taste of turkey.

Summing up my product review of Banquets Turkey Sausage Links is a simple on a scale to 5 goes as follows: Taste 4.0, Size 4.0, Value 4.5, Cooking time 5.0. I can say only for my spouse and I, that we will continue to purchase these, as we enjoy the breakfast sausage, but until they came out with this product,
we tried to stay away from all breakfast sides of sausage and patties due to the fact of cholesterol. Now we have the option for every other week to enjoy it. If your curious, give it a try, for a dollar what is the worse that can happen? You like it, or hate it, bet you tried other products more costly that you won't buy again, so the price when on sale does not hurt the pocket book one bit. Thanks for reading my review.
