Bruce McGill a Familiar Face

Penny White
You might remember him as D-Day in National Lampoon's Animal House, riding his motorcycle up the Delta House staircase.

Or you may recall him from the MacGyver television series. The Sheriff from "My Cousin Vinny." Or "Timecop." Or "The Last Boy Scout." Or ...

Well, the list is a long one (over 100 films), and, chances are, you've seen Bruce McGill.

Bruce Travis McGill was born July 11, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. An elementary school actor, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his acting career onstage with Rhode Island's Trinity Square Repertory Company and the New York Shakespeare Festival, appearing in Hamlet and Henry V. In 2008, he briefly returned to the stage portraying Orson Welles in "Orson's Shadow" at the Pasadena Playhouse.

McGill was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame on March 11, 2010. In his acceptance speech, he gave a brief family history.

His maternal Great Grandfather Ruben Jacobs walked from upstate New York at the age of 16 in 1867. A peddler, he followed the railroads until they ran out of money at Luling, Texas. He decided to open up a store.

His paternal Great Great Great Uncle, William Barrett Travis died defending the Alamo. McGill was born in a hospital overlooking the Alamo.

Currently, McGill can be seen on Rizzolli & Isles as Boston Police Homicide Detective Vince Korsak. In episode number 4 of season one, Korsak was asked where he went to college. His response was "Didn't. Watched Animal House a few times."

McGill enjoys golfing, sailing and playing music (he is an accomplished pianist.) He and his wife, Gloria Lee, live outside Los Angeles.
