Bruster's Real Ice Cream in Lawrenceville, Georgia

Yummy Eats!

When I think of Bruster's I think of sweet, colorful, creative fun! Yes, Bruster's ice cream IS real ice cream. I grew up in the Bronx, New York and the most exciting times I can remember are times when we heard the joyful sounds of the ice cream man coming through the neighborhood. That's right, when we heard those bells ringing, we knew that good sweets were not too far behind.

I recall we would get really motivated to do chores so that we could earn a few extra dollars to indulge in our sweet ice cream treats at least once a week. The only other major ice vendor in the Bronx at that time was Carvel ice cream, which I also loved. It was even more of a treat growing up as Karen Denise Harvell and of course enduring all the lovely jokes about Karen Carvel. Priceless!

The first time I tried Bruster's I was overwhelmed with the flavor choices. I dare to say they have more than Baskin Robbins. However, Bruster's not only offers ice cream, but they offer Italian ices and sorbets as well. I actually have been more drawn to sorbets in recent years as I am trying to stay on top of my health. However, I do indulge from time to time with a wonderful banana split or chocolate sundae.

Recently I visited a Bruster's in Lawrenceville, Georgia, located off of Sugarloaf Parkway. This location actually has partnered with Nathan's hot dogs. Again, anyone from New York knows Nathan's very well. As Nathan's and Hebrew National is what I grew up on. So once you finish enjoying a wonderful hot dog, you can treat yourself to a lovely sweet treat.

One of the greatest things about Bruster's are the specials that they offer. They offer discounts for people that come on certain days in their pajamas, there are discounts for seniors and on banana Thursday's if you bring your own banana, Bruster's will give you half off the price of the banana split. How's that for a treat? Now they have lots of other specialist such as the Quart Club, Kid at Heart, Baby Cones, Doggie Sunday's and so much more.

On my recent visit I decided to try the banana split as a treat. Instead of your typical vanilla, chocolate and strawberry combo, I went with white chocolate, vanilla and mint chocolate chip. I know, it's a little different, but oh so good! You can choose any three of your favorite flavors with pineapple, strawberry and chocolate sauce and of course they top it off with fresh whipped cream and a cherry on top. I always eat my Banana split first and save the cherry for last as a final little treat.

Bruster's sorbet is wonderful as well as it contains real fruit and seems so rich and delicious that you think you're being bad, but the truth is, that the sorbet is mostly natural sugar and has a lot less calories than real ice cream, so enjoy, but eat responsibly.

Bottom line: Great sweet treats. Fairly responsible prices when you consider the coupons and special discounts. There are so many locations to choose from in Georgia, so check them out on line today at www.brusters.com for a location nearest you, but if you're near Sugarloaf parkway, stop by today at 3340 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30045 or call them today at 770-339-0303. Bruster's is Real Ice Cream Goodness!

Wow...PIZZA..my other favoriate NY food :O). Is your pizza shop here in Atlanta? If so, I would LOVE to try it! So far Fini's has been the closest thing to "REAL" NYC pizza.

Just want to be clear, the servers were nice, I just think they should pay more attention to the product. They are serving two quality name brands, and first impressions say a lot. Glad to hear the Ice Cream is good.

Hey! there is a word limit on the comments.

I say this as my family has owned a pizza shop in a small town for over 50 years and you know if the food you are making isn't up to par. If you aren't paying attention to quality, your lack of repeat business will let you know.

Final verdict - we won't be back. Too bad as we were hoping it would be good.

Why, HotDog Lover, I guess I can say I know Nathan's quality in New York, but have no idea what it is like in Georgia. Hence the reason I really talked more about the Ice Cream as oppose to the hotdog portion. Sorry you had a bad experience, but I agree with Jane; you may want to let the manager know what kind of service you had as well as the quality of the meal, so that they can resolve the issue. Afterall, never assume that they KNOW what kind of quality because sometimes people "really" don't know my friend. Thanks for your comment!

I have never had the hotdogs, but the ICE CREAM is GREAT and I love this location because it's less than a mile from my house. If I were you. I'd let the manager know what kind of meal you had and also that the service took a long time.

My wife and I were driving by this location the other day on our way to the new Frizbee Golf course and saw what I though would be Heaven in a combo of foods we both love. Brusters serves excellent Ice Cream and Nathan's name is well known. However, the Nathan's quality was missing from the meal. The buns were hard, I don't mean a little stale but actually hard. The hotdogs themselves were under cooked and instead of going on and on for a paragraph about the meals disappointments, let me just say we decided that Nathan's is ill represented at that location. The Hotdog part seems like an unwanted hassle for the Brusters staff. They were pleasant but it took about 20 mins to put a bad meal together. Maybe the foods are all microwaved and that's how the buns turned to rocks. It wasn't a cheap meal either so it just added to the moment to pay extra for bad food. We didn't take the food back as I'm sure the person making the food knows it's quality when they prepare it. I say this as my fam
