Bryant Moniz Throws Seven First-Half Touchdowns for Hawaii

Bryant Moniz had the game of his life for Hawaii, and he did it in just the first half. Hawaii took on UC Davis on Saturday, and the Warriors quarterback helped lead his school to a 49-0 halftime lead.

The box score is almost unbelievable, especially with Moniz playing one half. He finished 30-of-40 for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. It's remarkable to think what he could have done if the coaches didn't pull him.

The seven touchdowns tied the NCAA record, but it might not be too surprising it was Moniz who ended up doing it. He lead Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yards (5,040) and touchdowns (39) in 2010, It hasn't come quite as easily this year, especially with a new group of receivers. Still, games like this one might get his momentum going.

Moniz has 1,168 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in four games. That is off his average from last year, but he has plenty of time to rack up the statistics when the WAC schedule begins. With Boise State gone from the conference, it also means the Warriors might have a shot at competing for the title and reaching a nice bowl game. That would give him one more game to try and increase his career totals.

In a few weeks, Moniz will be approaching 10,000 passing yards for his career. That is impressive, and something players as good as Andrew Luck and Matthew Stafford will never be able to say they accomplished.

Next week Hawaii opens conference play against a Louisiana Tech team that has been giving up a lot of points. It could be a big chance for Moniz to pad his statistics on the way to another passing title. He is a player who doesn't get the same recognition as someone at Alabama or Ohio State, but he is fun to watch.
