Bryce Harper Drafted First in 2010 MLB Draft by Washington Nationals

Bryce Harper is the No. 1 pick in the 2010 MLB Draft. The Washington Nationals picked first in the 2010 MLB Draft, and went with Bryce Harper, who was as easy as it gets for the first overall pick. With all of the hype surrounding Bryce Harper, he makes the most sense with the No. 1 overall pick. Harper is a power hitting catcher from the left side of the plate, and with him the Washington Nationals might now have a great player to put behind the plate for Stephen Strasburg very soon. Harper is one of those rare gems to hit the MLB Draft, and the Washington Nationals can finally be happy about the rough season they had in 2009, because it resulted in another franchise players coming to the team.

The Washington Nationals are really on the right track now, building from the draft, as they had two first round picks last year that will both be pitching this season for the big club. Now they add catcher Bryce Harper to the fold, and if they can add some more pieces later on in the draft this weekend, it could be one of the great young teams in baseball for the foreseeable future. The drafting in Washington has been pretty good, but some could argue that it couldn't be easier with the players that were available at No. 1 overall. The hype behind Harper isn't just because of what he does with the bat, but what he can do behind the plate, and how he could become a National League All-Star almost immediately when he makes it to the Majors leagues.
