Bubba Nosferatu May Start Filming Soon for a 2011 Release

Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, the sequel to the zany horror movie with a cult following, Bubba Ho-Tep, has a good chance to begin filming this fall '09 for an estimated release time of 2011.

Bubba Nosferatu is planned to be a prequel to Bubba Ho-Tep with a younger Elvis acting in a horror film when he runs into a coven of she-vampires.

Bruce Campbell dazzled us with his great portrayal of Elvis in Bubba Ho-Tep, unfortunately, due to differences with the director, Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), Bruce will not be donning the white jumpsuit this time around, much to the disappointment of Bruce Campbell fans.

So who is going to play Elvis this time around, if it's not going to be Bruce? The answer is a surprising Ron Perlman of Beauty and the Beast and Hellboy fame. I am shocked by this announcement. Don't get me wrong, I think Perlman is a great actor and I am a big fan of his but I just cannot see him as Elvis. He might be able to get a voice and physical nuances accurately but he just does not look like Elvis at all. Another thing is that it ruins the continuity of the franchise, dislikes the several Batman actors in the 80s and 90s.

In a Fangoria Radio interview, Perlman, after speaking to Coscarelli and co-star Paul Giamatti, set to play Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, said that there is a good chance Bubba Nosferatu could start filming soon. Perlman said that "I'll be done shooting Sons of Anarchy in September, and we're hoping to get into production on Bubba in hiatus between seasons two and three."

Another bit of news for Bubba Nosferatu is that Angus Scrimm will be joining the cast as Claude Killgore, "a Boris Karloff-like horror star who Elvis meets up with in Las Vegas on the set of a vampire movie." Killgore was alluded to in flashbacks in Bubba Ho-Tep. Scrimm's role will not be very big but it will be fun as he battles Perlman as Elvis, who, in turn, is playing the role of Clay Burton in the fictional vampire movie being made within Bubba Nosferatu.

Just as Bubba Nosferatu began as a teaser/joke at the end of Bubba Ho-Tep, the end of the Bubba Nosferatu has a teaser at the end of the script about a possible third movie involving the Wolfman!
