Bubbles - Charm School 3 with Ricki Lake

Besides BayBayBay, the most notable metamorphosis during Season 3 of VH1's 'Charm School with Ricky Lakel' was that of Bubbles-aka Bianca. She transformed from a shy and passive schoolgirl into an outspoken and proactive woman determined to take full reign over her life. Mind you, she didn't conquer all her faults-but really, who can? The point is that she gave it her best; and in the end, she came out a winner.

Initial Entry

Upon her initial entry into the home, the 'surround-sound' goon squad-primarily composed of BayBayBay, So Hood, Ki Ki, and Risky-savagely attacked and browbeat Bubbles into submission. When Bubbles tried to articulate her position, Ki Ki immediately dismissed it as "passive aggressive" behavior; she even insisted that Bubbles look up the phrase 'passive aggressive.' How rude!

Thankfully, BayBayBay and Risky did eventually curtail their behavior and accept Bubbles for who she is: an ingenious and magnanimous woman with a pure heart, a sincere attitude, and a big mind & head-kind of like a conehead. But that doesn't excuse their previous behavior; nor does it excuse the rest of the cast. I sincerely hope that these Ladies come to realize that the world is ever changing and new people, new lifestyles, and new traditions are constantly forming. To deride someone for being different is not only wrong, but also outright ignorant.

The Transformation

So who exactly is Bubbles? Besides being a reality superstar, my perception of her is that she is an open-minded, spiritual, and caring woman with motherly instincts, a humanitarian nature, and a genuine love for life-both humans AND 'animals.' In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with her whatsoever. However, I am merely a biased third-party observer; and as someone wise once said, "You can't change someone else, but you can change yourself." Although I personally find nothing innately flawed with Bubbles, she concluded on her own-through introspection and a desire for more-that change was in fact in her best interest.

What Bubbles desired was to discover the voice hidden within herself-a voice previously unreachable due to a tragic past that left her frightened and unable to stand up for herself. And as the weeks passed, Bubbles found this voice and gradually grew unafraid of expressing her opinion (for better or worse). It was a painful process to watch, but one that made me quite proud. For not only do I myself suffer from this inability to be assertive, but I'm also well aware of the difficulties inherent in overcoming it.

Elimination

Sadly, it was Bubble's miraculous 'emotional revolution' that spurred her early departure. Unafraid to express herself, she began advising (although it may have seemed like lecturing) the other Ladies on how to better apply their daily lessons. Ricki realized this and ultimately used it to decide on Bubbles' dismissal from 'Charm School with Ricki Lake.' The truth is that the remaining Ladies needed 'Charm School' more than Bubbles-she had apparently already mastered the lessons. Which goes to show just how intelligent Bubbles really is; some of the remaining Ladies were still leagues behind her.

Conclusion

Bubble's debut into reality television began in 2008 on the 'Real Chance of Love'-which, by the way, returns to VH1 on August 3^rd, 2009. Although she advanced through the challenges without much difficulty, she practically chose to quit by confessing to Chance her love for another man. One year later and Bubbles then journeyed to 'Charm School with Ricki Lake' as a delicate caterpillar, from whence she now flies away as a fully-grown butterfly.

Personal Statement to Bubbles

Bubbles, you may not have been able to earn the love of Chance, but I guarantee that you have won over the hearts of VH1 fans worldwide-at the very least, you won over my heart. In fact, I daresay that you are the first and only woman whom I've ever encountered who comes even slightly close to being as pure as my Mother (as 'Freudian-ly' twisted as that may sound).

Bubbles, I will dearly miss your presence on VH1. I hope one day I can get to know you in person. Until that day arrives (which it probably never will), it's like they say: "If you love something, let it go free. If it doesn't come back, you never had it to begin with."
