Buckcherry's Black Butterfly Early Album Review

Can Buckcherry Recapture the Success of Their Last Album 15?

The Reviewer
Buckcherry is a Los Angeles, California-based rock band. After three successful albums, Buckcherry is back with their forth album Black Butterfly. Their last album 15 released back in 2005 went platinum and now the boys are tying to top that success with their latest release. Will Black Butterfly capture even more mainstream success?

The first single off of Black Butterfly is Too Drunk...The song is definitely interesting. The track features interesting lyrics that recapture the golden age of 1980's party rock. The song also features a great guitar solo midway through the track.

The second single is Don't Go Away. The song is mellower and commercially oriented than the vast majority of the album. The song has a similar vibe to Incubus if mixed with the 1960's sound.

The album opens with Rescue Me which should be familiar to fans of the popular video game Rock Band. The song is the perfect example of what is missing in rock music today. The song thrashes with strong musicality.

A Child Called "It" is a very different song than what you expect. Lyrically the song is one of the most unique tracks in recent memory.

All of Me has an almost folk element to it. The song will definitely do well on rock radio as it is just the right kind of song at the right moment. The song is easily one of the better tracks on the album.

Imminent Bail Out has the urgency and fire that is lacking in rock music today. The song is brash and unapologetic.

Tired of You is another very solid rock track. The song features a strong melody and even stronger vocals and delivery.

Fallout has a definite vibe of 1980's feel good party hair band rock. The song sounds straight out of that era.

The album closes with Cream. The song is different than most of the tracks on the album and starts off with almost haunting vocals then continues with almost military precision. The song sums up the two halves of the album perfectly and is a solid closing track.

Overall Black Butterfly is a solid rock album which is a rarity in this day and age. The band shines with strong musicality and even stronger vocals from Josh Todd. Overall Black Butterfly gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Buckcherry make sure you pick up Black Butterfly when it is available in stores on September 16th.

My girl and I are both pretty good fans of BC, seen live 5 times in last 2 years.

We both were bored to death with this album. I found this page by looking up "black butterfly sucks" just to see if anyone else felt like me.

Are you kidding? The whole CD sucks. Seriously, I love BC, but this CD sounds like they made it in their basement in a day.
