Bucky Covington Concert, Aug 18, 2007

Mountain Days Festival Dayton Ohio

August 18th my family and I went to the Mountain Days Festival in Dayton Ohio to see Bucky Covington in concert. As we got the Country Music stage area, my daughter and I noticed a line of fans were standing in one area watching Bucky do meet and greets. We went to the area and waited by the fence. After Bucky was done with the meet and greets he came over to the fence where we were gathered and started signing autographs. A couple times Bucky's management tried to get him to leave but he would come right back to where we were and sign more items for fans. He continued to do this until he got something signed for everyone standing there.

After my daughter and I got our autographs, we went to our seats. I need to give you an idea of the surroundings of the country music seating and how it was set up. They have the typical outdoor stage setup, grandstand, bleacher seating and in between the grandstand and stage was a perfect setup for an evening of country music. There were rows and rows of hay bales for concert goers to sit on and enjoy the show.

During one part of the show Bucky said he loved coming to Ohio because, it reminded him of North Carolina. The reason for this is Ohio is also filled with a bunch of rednecks. You can not get any more country redneck than sitting on hay bales in the woods, drinking Budweiser and eating hot buttered corn on the cob, while listening to a good ole country boy sing some great Southern country rock music.

The scenes and sounds around me reminded me of when I was a child and we would sit around the TV on a Saturday night and watch "Hee Haw", or when my parents would turn on the radio and listen to the Grand Ole Opry. Now this was in the 80's and back then I hated this. I wanted to watch American Bandstand. However, now that I am older I love this kind of evening out. This was a perfect setting for everyone to enjoy Bucky Covington.

Bucky Covington put on one heck of a concert for the fans. He was very interactive with the audience during the show. He talked about American Idol and lots of other things. Fans had a huge beach ball that was being thrown back and forth. It started making its way onto stage and Bucky and the band members would kick or smack it back into the audience. Everyone was smiling ear to ear and having a great time. Not only did we get a great concert but we also got to play ball with Bucky.

Bucky covered songs from his album such as "American Friday Night", "Back When we were Gods" and the tear jerker "I'll Walk". During his song "I'm Good" Bucky got a little girl on stage and sang and danced a little with her.

Bucky also covered Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds, Guns and Roses song "Every Rose has its Thorn" and a song by David Allen Coe. He also sung a Sawyer Brown Song.

After the concert was over my daughter and I went to meet Bucky and get another autograph. My daughter is 12 years old and she was thrilled Bucky greeted her by calling her honey and signing her keychain. It does not take much for a person like Bucky to make a big impression on someone, especially a child. I belie he has made several fans for life.

Bucky Covington may be a country music recording artist however; this man can sing rock music just as well. His album has a country rock sound to it. I love the album and seeing and hearing Bucky Covington perform live is a great concert, that will keep you up and dancing throughout.

I was there. It is my 'hometown' and what a beautiful day! Flew in from Florida to visit family and take in the Bucky concerts in Indiania on the 15 and Dayton on the 18th. It was a great vacation! Bucky is really a genuine person and cares so much for his fans, I know because this was my 10th time to see him. I brought the beach ball just to add a little something...and boy it sure did, you wrote about it. It was a very good time!
