The first song on the album tells you the basics of what the CD has in store for you. American Friday Night is the name of the song, and that's what it's about, a good ol' fashioned American Friday night. Down at the football field, cheering your team on, impressing the girls, and trying to be a star in your own home town, something many of us can relate to. The song is great for bringing back good memories that have long eluded us.
Bucky also has a very heartfelt inspirational song entitled I'll Walk. The song is a telling of a couple on prom night that endure their first lovers spat. While in the guys car the girl gets out saying she'll walk home. The guy leaves her, and she is hit by another vehicle and her legs are damaged. So as the song progresses she keeps saying "I'll walk" and at the very end she walks down the isle at her wedding. A very moving and touching song.
Now there are a lot of great songs on this CD, 11 in total, but I have to say the best was A Different World. This song is for anyone who grew up in the pre video game, pre health conscious, pre tech crazy world. Bucky sings about living in a time where you drank from the garden hose, went to church on Sunday, played with friends outside, and we all road bikes without helmets, yet we all turned out alright. It's a great song and reminds us of a simpler time that many of us wish we could go back to.
Every song on this CD is great, and Bucky Covington delivers his unique and original style of song and sound. Any fan of country music, American Idol, of just wanting to listen to some really good music will enjoy this CD. In fact the popularity of the CD has really taken on a life of its own. Bucky's self titled album is actually the best selling debut album by a male artist since Billy Ray Cyrus debuted back in 1992, and Bucky's song A Different World has even hit big, number one in country radio and number 4 on Billboards top 200.
