Let us first look at Bud Light Lime's appearance. The bottle has a very cool and summer type feel about, with a nice youthful Bud Light Lime logo. The beer itself is very yellow and pale, even in comparison with normal Bud Light. As soon as you pop open the bottle, you get a slight hint of lime, leading you to believe that the taste will have a touch of lime to it. Looking closer at the Bud Light Lime packaging, I noticed the alcohol content is lower than the usual, which is around 5% in most normal beers. Bud Light Lime comes in at a whopping 4.2 %.
The low alcohol content in Bud Light Lime probably explains the why the slight lime you smell has a taste that greatly overpowers the beer. If Budweiser gave us a stronger beer, with a stronger taste, then I would not have felt like I was drinking lime juice with a hint of Bud Light. The weakness of the beer itself also explains the pale, yellow coloring of Bud Light Lime. To add insult to injury, Budweiser has also come out with another version of Bud Light Lime, but with only 3.2% alcohol, which I cannot even fathom trying.
Many of the reviews I have read before I even dared to try Bud Light Lime, I almost never drink Budweiser considering I have been born and raised in Wisconsin which is strong Miller territory, compared the taste to 7-Up or Sprite. These accounts are way off base, in my opinion. As I said earlier, I felt like somebody handed me a bottle that was half lime juice and half light beer, which is just too much lime flavor for a domestic light beer.
To sum up this review on Bud Light Lime, the aroma is actually pleasant, and not too overpowering. The bottle and logo have a youthful, fun look, but that is where the compliments end for this bad copy of Miller Chill. The beer is too weak, both in alcohol content and in taste, and the lime completely slaughters any beer taste it may have had. Since this review is based on the 4.2% alcohol version, I would recommend running far, far away from the 3.2% alcohol version. A six-pack of 12-ounce bottles of Bud Light Lime will cost you around $6.49, which is over-priced in this reviewer's mind.

Post a CommentI saw this at the store when I was out shopping. My initial reaction was ugh but it might be worth a swig.
I really like Corona or Dos Equis (lager-green bottle), with (not mixed) the original yellow Gatorade (lime flavor) not that G2 crap. IT'S BETTER THAN ANY LIME BEER.
Think I will stick to 7-Up or any other lemon/lime drink. Never liked beer at all, but will drink Coors Light if there is a choice of beers and no liquor available at picnic or party.
I dislike beer...like whiskey!
I'm going to pass this over to some people who were curious about this, but haven't tried it yet.
Good review, but I'm a little confused!
Basically all you like about it is the smell and the look of the bottle, everything else is bad. The lime "slaughters" the beer flavor, its too expensive, the beer itself is "weak" and you suggest "running away", yet you gave it a 4.7 out of 5? What gives?
I read a very similar review on the Brew Club.com and the reviewer also disliked the bud light lime, but gave it a 2 out of 5 even though most of the commenters loved the stuff for some reason. On maltedbarleyandhops.com, the reviewer also rated it poorly. Your words and your ratings don't seem to add up.
Personally, i agree with what you say though!
LOL>>just wanted to jump back in Josh..I'm becoming an AC freak..I was out the other night with my lovely bride ordering a few rounds of Coronas and as I told the waitress to hold the lime I thought of this review..All signs of a good review my man..or as I said earlier..I'm just an AC freak ;-)
Interesting. Beer's good and I like lime. I might have to try this.
i used to be a beer drinker, sigh, i loved it, so this review is great, but I have been sober for nearly 28 years. Great review though
Thanks for the review. I enjoy using beer to cook with but not to drink much to my husband's disbelief!
