For those of you who don't know Buddy Holly let's get acquainted. Buddy Holly was a young singer and songwriter of the 1950s. Buddy Holly is considered a pioneer of Rock and Roll. He had a profound influence on future generations including the Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Buddy Holly and his band, The Crickets, recorded many hits together. Such songs as That'll Be the Day and Peggy Sue. At the age of twenty-two his career was already a successful one. But it was cut short by a tragic plane crash. When that plane crashed, it took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and JP "The Big Bopper" Richardson. In an instant three of Rock 'n Roll's most promising performers were gone. That day went down in history as "the day the music died".

Matty B and the Dirty Pickles, a local band from Erie, Pennsylvania attempt to revive a bit of Buddy Holly through a theatrical production. Buddy Holly: The Day the Music Died. The Dirty Pickles are an up and coming band that focuses on music of the fifties. This three piece band includes a drummer, upright bass player, and a front man who plays guitar and sings. Over the last three years they have been working hard towards bringing back Rockabilly, a music style from the fifties. Rockabilly is a fun, upbeat style of music that is sure to interest a listener of any age. Their music has been heard referred to as Rockabilly with a twist as it is a little faster paced and more modern. But they never lose that 1950's feel and presence. The Dirty Pickles work their magic to bring together music lovers both young and old. Always with one goal in mind: Making people forget about the worries and stress of life and get up and dance.

This short musical tells the story of Buddy Holly and his band. Young and old this story is sure to touch your hearts and get your feet moving along to the beat. Through struggle and stardom and finally the tragic end, it will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions back to the past. Carrying us back in time, to a time where the music was still alive.

Matty B and the Dirty Pickles deliver a spectacular performance. Matty B, the front man of the band, is the same age Buddy Holly was before the tragic incident. With slicked back hair and a 1950's attitude there isn't a better band around for the part. They have everything Buddy Holly had except for the glasses.
