In Buddy Rush, players must complete quests and battle a variety of enemies. While the game in general borrows from the RPG genre, it isn't what one would typically expect to find. Differing from more serious games, Buddy Rush offers its own cute concept along with humorous twists. This is done both in presentation and in the experience to be had. For example, rich and colorful environments along with a complete cast of adorably charming kid-like characters give the title its own uniqueness. Additionally, even with missions to be completed, nothing is to be taken too seriously as there is humor is to be found along the way.
Following in the tradition of the typical RPG, to start the game players must choose a character class. With a goofy twist, available class choices mock their true counterparts, such as a "Worrier" instead of a Warrior. As one would guess, the character does worry.
Characters then embark on adventures to slay a variety of worldly creatures including the popular Oblins (a cross between Orc and Goblin). While doing so, they will be challenged to complete a variety of missions for both valor and fortune. Those missions are based the simple tasks of defeating enemies, or finding and collecting something particular within the game's environment. Additional gameplay modes include challenges and dungeon levels where special items cane ultimately be found.
Gameplay is easy for gamers of practically any level to master as the basis for most movements and task accomplishments are simple point and click actions (a "Play Guide" is available for those who are confused or are having difficulty). While the combat system isn't overly complicated, a variety of enemies are capable of dealing varying levels of damage, and progression in the game reveals expected incremental difficulty and the ability for player characters to strengthen abilities and obtain upgrades.
Single player offers hours of great fun, but the game can also be played socially. When it comes to team play, Facebook users can have a "Buddy" join them on an adventure. When doing so, a strategy of combining forces with those in different classes proves to be highly beneficial. For example, characters that use melee attacks may benefit more with another player with ranged attacks and vice-versa.
Buddy Rush is fun and free to play on Facebook, however, like most social network games, there are options and perks available via a pay to play model which includes the purchase of chips via direct payment or by use of Facebook credits.
As of this writing, Buddy Rush is available on Facebook, and the iOS (iPhone, iPad), with a pending release for Android powered devices.
